Default Attraction Idea for Tomorrowland

This is just an idea about what to do with the People Mover tracks.

I have two actually:

1) A test track type ride:

why this works: it would not be a huge stretch to bank and theme the peoplemover track to fit a test track type attraction.

-it is largely outdoors, allowing for many fast periods

-there are several indoor sections that can be themed for scenes similar to those in EPCOT's Test Track. You can even take the upper floor of innoventions and reroute the track to wind in there with some car tests.

you can load the hub, which would make for a cool station.

why not?

- lack of space for indoor scenes

- elevated track may not be able to be reconfigured appropriately

-no queue space?

IDEA 2

Hover Craft -jetsons type vehicle attraction

why yes?

creating the technology for a hover craft type vehicle willl once again establish disney and tomorrowland as symbols of remarkabel innovation

-the ride would be fittingly retro futuristic

-you can theme the hover crafts to resemble any type of thing, even da vinci's flying machines?

why not?

-hovering has not been invented?

-price?

I've got one how about a Maglev train system only slightly scaled down to peoplemover car size.

Why: this technology already exists and it could be another first like the monorail because there are no daily operating maglev systems in America that I know of.

Why not: installing a system like this could be costly and it may actually kill maglev technology as a form of transportation and people will think of it as just a theme park attraction(sad to say but this is exactly what happened with the monorail)

^Eh... not necessarily , the maglev's that i've seen basically are monorails, and monorails are used in many airports and cities, not just in theme parks.

Yes Maglevs are cool, but it wouldn't be easy to scale down a maglev. And if it were done it'd cost a fortune. The German Maglev cost around a billion, it was 12 miles but it'd still be pricy at Disneyland, and would cost a bit to run. Plus it'd be pretty dangerous, as you don't have as much control over it, as you would a ppm. Its still experimental, and isn't as safe as the monorail.

Maybe this should be moved to the Imagineering thread. But anyway:

Walt Disney's Tomorrowland Peoplemover:
John Cleese narrates this slow trip above Tomorrowland.
Why yes?
-brings back the Peoplemover
Why not?
-track rebuilding

Umm...I have a better idea:

Reincarnation of the Peoplemover, but modernized!

I agree 110%. Don't put a new ride in, just bring back the old PeopleMover! Why? Because it's an attraction I believe will truly be welcomed back to Disneyland by guests both young and old.

Why not?

Dunno.

the maglev idea isn't bad, but its not feasible and there is no large incentive to actually put real future systems in tomorrowland. tomorrowland no longer really serves its original pupropse as being a blueprint for the future, it has a more whimsical and charming retro theme now.

if the maglev were to go anywhere, it'd be epcot.

i like the idea of bringing back an updated and cool peoplemover because imagineering wouldn't have to do much to make people happy. if they theme it to fit the jules verne style of tomorrowland, i think you have an easy fit for the peoplemover trakcs

Well 2010, 2011, TL will most likely get an update, if you compare the exterior of buildings in DLR's TL and WDW's TL, WDW wins by a thousand points. Especially at night, there is lots of color, and futuristic looking structures. DL, well we don't have that much, and Disney knows this, they will update DLR eventually to look better.

Tomorrowland is usually always crowded. Do we want to make it more packed?

Cool. I wasn't the only one who though a DL version of TT would work! Only when I came up with the idea, I thought the queue and the ride would be in the now current space for BLAB.

I just think now there is no room, Innoventions is chaning, and there is an actual possibility of a PM revival in the future.

The PeopleMover would help eat up the crowds. The only issue would be if a major line builds. The solution could be to have the line run under the main stretch of the tracks (between Star Tours and Buzz). Doing so though would probably make it impossible to cross from Star Tours side to Buzz side. Plus, the line could meet the backed up Astro Orbitor line.

Another choice would be to do away with that Fruit cart area and cut off the entrance to Tomorrowland Terrace from the Buzz/back of Tomorrowland Landing. The line would take up that present area.

Rocket Rods.
What a nightmare! The queue was in the now-Buzz building.

Hovering, hovering, hovering... magnets on the bottom of the car & the track would do the trick.

Hi folks. While I'm all for a return of the PeopleMover I'd, like to offer a few sugestions.

The changes would not so much be with the track, (at this point, [i]any[i] type of system would do), but rather with the show buildings.

If PPM is supposed to take guests on a 'grand cirlce tour' of TL then it would work better if there were some more themed 'scenery' along the way. This could be done easily with just a few, new lighting systems, some new color schemes, and maybe just one or two AA scenes through-out to help keep the narrative going.

Although I know things are tight right now I do believe that even the smallest upgrade to the PPM could bring back that 'futuristic' feel to TL. Peace.
