Default Tower of Terror movie rumors

This is not really an "official" post, but since it's all over the internet I thought I'd mention it. Rumor has it that Disney is working on a feature film version of Disney Parks' Tower of Terror attraction. The rumor appeared today on Cinema Blend, on First Showing and Movie Hole all repeating an annonymous tip to Bloody Disgusting.

So far, nothing has shown up on sites that I trust more when it comes to movie news, like Variety or The Hollywood Reporter. At this point, I'm not calling it "news" yet.

Another one? I liked the first one with Steve Gutenberg and Kirsten Dunst. I don't think I'd want to see another one.

Actually, a buddy of mine works for comingsoon.net and tossed this around in a conversation we were having a week ago. Basically, nothing is greenlit and it's only in the "let's toss around some ideas and see what works phase". From what his source told him, a couple producers want to re-imagine the film concept straying WAY away from the original movie and come up with something completely different (sort of like a PG-13, horror/action flick). Although this doesn't look like it's happening anytime soon, I wouldn't mind seeing a new film. Just as long as it isn't aimed at tweens like the original. Lol

I'd LOVE to see a new Tower of Terror film, but hopefully it has that twilight zone atmosphere I don't think the original film really had. I hope if it is greenlit, they use the new Pueblo Deco design hotel for filming. It fits more into the "Hollywood 1939" theme (based on another fan website's vote) and I personally think it would be way more spookier. I hope this happens!!

I didn't really like the first one. It was a tad cheesy. I think if they are going to do it, it should be a bit darker. Kinda like pirates...

LOL! When I saw that Steve Guttenberg was in it ... well, that's a clue that it wasn't going to be at the same level as The Shining.
