3D is used in this probably to just get the illusion of depth. I don't think Disney would have things poking through the window! They'd just make it feel more real.

There is a rumor going around that Disney has obtained permission from George Lucas to Renovate Star Tours. Ideas include adding multiple destinations (which obviously means filming new adventures), giving the attraction a makeover, and at the very least updating the dated film.

If you could renovate Star Tours (or any other attraction for that matter) what would you do?

If you could only change one thing about An attraction what would you change?

just curious to see what others think.

I'd make it so that we'd have somewhere else to go instead of Endor, which we really didn't get to go to at all anyway. Shame that Star Tours takes place only in space. I think it'd be great to visit Hoth or even Coruscant.

This rumor has been going around for years. I wish it were true, but sadly i think it is false.

But if i were to rennovate it, Id change everything!!!! It needs some MAJOR updating.

There were rumours that they were going to redo it back when the Phantom Menace came out, but that never happened.

I think there would be a cult of unhappy people out there if they even dared to change Star Tours.

perhaps it would be a good idea to keep the original film in one of the cabins and then have two to three new films in the other cabins.

And they usually only run, 2 and 3, and maybe 4. I haven't seen 1 running for a while, but I'm sure it does run, but they usually don't need to run that many. Of course if each went to a different destination, then people would request one or the other.
Perhaps if it was a different destination every time. It shuffled three or four different destinations. When you get through the queue they mention endor. With today's technology they could have all the annoucements, and have the droids talk about Tatooine, or Hoth as you walk in. Then once you get on, you go to one of those places. They could change it every half hour or so.

Ok well maybe not the queue thing, maybe they can still say your going to endor, but perhaps there is some sort of "issue" that keeps you from going there, and you end up going somewhere else. That way, you can still enjoy the old movie. Provided they don't get rid of rex.

Because then you create 4 queues for 4 ride vehicles, or have every guest with a desired destination in mind and a 25% chance of actually getting their desired film. Conversely, they'd have a 75% chance of not getting what they entered the queue for. Plus all the motions would have to be the same in every version. You can't have a hydraulic system like that change its program at will, unless the software behind that has made incredible advances in the past 5 years or so.

Well if they are going to change it they better make it compatable with Star Wars Continuity. There are major continuity errors in Star Tours right now. Most Star Wars fans think it Happened during the "New Republic" era because of continuity problems concerning the first Death Star's destruction. For one in the ride R2-D2 and C-3PO are in the Star Tours Queue. In A New Hope, R2-D2 is in Lukes' X-Wing and 3PO's back at the Rebel Base on Yavin so the ride logicly can't take place during A New Hope. Some have assumed it covers the Battle against the Death Star Prototype in the Jedi Academy Trilogy but unfortunateley R2 and Threepios' whereabouts are explained there too and the Death Star is described as a more skelatal structure. With those two possibilities eliminated we are to assume that the Empire built a third Death Star sometime in between the Jedi Academy Books and the comic book Star Wars Union where peace with the Empire is declared.
