As long as there's Expedition: Everest in the park and I'm willing to go.
Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon, Sesshomaru-sama

it would be cool. I mean... the nearest zoo sort of attraction is in San Diego. it would really make DLR a one stop vacation destination. throw in a water park and you cover all the bases. as for expedition everest... wouldnt it seem wierd with the matterhorn just a few hundred yards away? it is essentially the same ride as far as concept goes.

Speaking as a zookeeper, just the thought of that makes me shudder. A zoo is a place where someone goes to really learn about the animals, learn to appreciate the species that they see, and learn what they can do to protect the world's wildlife. And as much as I enjoy Animal Kingdom in its own right, I think it falls far short in that department.
Yes, there are educational attractions there - Kilimanjaro Safaris is great, as is the Conservation Station and Asia and Africa exhibits. But the majority of the park is not an educational facility - it is a theme park, more focused on entertainment and rides. And while I think that sort of thing can have a place in a zoo, it should not make up such a large portion of the park. Ever heard Animal Kingdom's official catchphrase, "Nahtazu"? It's true. Bottom line? Animal Kingdom is great as an entertainment facility, but I would be greatly saddened and angry to see it replace a world-class zoological and educational institution such as the LA Zoo. |
