i have not seen it, but a very close friend of mine has claimed to have seen a layout of the plan for the disney owned park at the montgomery county courthouse and also read an article on the matter in the courier. i dont know if this is a proposition or if it is a plan that is in place. i am trying to learn more about it, but i have not had time to go to the courthouse to take a look for myself. once i get up there, i will post a note on here to let the curious know if this is true. ((i dont think my friend would lie, but i can see him repeating something someone else told him, which was repeated by someone else, and someone else, etc, etc...))

I just searched the The Courier of Montgomery County for 2007. I do find an article about a favorable "feasability study" on a park in east Montgomery County. But later news stories reveal the park to be Dinosaur City ? no Disney connection there.

The rumors of Disney Texas didn't start on this board, but they are just that...rumors. I agree with Matt that the company shouldn't be considering replicating itself all over the earth. Tokyo DL opened, then they built one in France, and at the time France didn't really want it, Spain was begging for it, but for some reason we went with France. Then Hong Kong...and the Disney Stores...OMG....When Walt purchased the land for WDW it was only out of frustration at getting priced out of the market and hemmed in on all sides by tourist traps. He wanted room to expand and build on ideas. The point wasn't to keep multiplying. Disney doesn't do well as a franchise, it is successful because it is quality and unique. When too much gets done, the value drops. It used to be if you saw someone with a t-shirt that said Disneyland or Walt Disney World, you KNEW they had to have gone there to get it, because that was the only way to get one. And they wore it with pride.
Anyway, enough of my rant, I think the company is starting to look back and reinvest in its current properties. Long overdue. And I hope that doesn't mean more Dumbo clones for rides..... When I started working at WDW in the characters way back....a long time ago...we were issued shorts and shirts called blues to wear under the costumes. The department was known as the zoo crew, but because WDW was still relatively new and not enough blues had been produced, all our shirts still said Disneyland Zoo Crew. I honestly, don't believe this rumor of Disneyland moving to Texas. DL in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, etc. They always have rumors of they parks going to a new state. I am pretty sure DL and WDW are going to be the only Disney Theme Parks in the US.

Texas does seem unlikely because DL isn't that far away...I can't imagine them puting them that close together...I think they should defintely put one in Canada though...in like Vancouver, BC....or around that area, that way us Pacific Northwesterners can still reap the benifits.

Speaking as an Austinite, unless it was built somewhere between Waco and Austin, it wouldn't get that much business, everyone else goes to Six Flags. Personally i'd rather they didn't have one here unless it was less than fifty miles from my house, so I could go there every weekend until i got sick of it, and even then it wouldn't be as great as WDW or DLR. As it is it's hard enough getting my parents onboard for a DLR trip without stating my specific personal reasons for going (nostalgia, RDCT, etc), and even then they don't really wanna go. WHY OH WHY DO MY PARENTS HAVE TO LOVE SKIING SO MUCH?!?! Curses!!!! *sees the odd looks, blushes* I'm okay, I swear!
![]() No seriously, if they made another disney park in the US (which they've said they won't), it would be in the northeast, as that's where the people are packed in like sardines. -Ara

Heck Yea! Disney world in Texas?!? Better yet, Plantersville? Where the ol' Ren Fest is? Bring it on! I would love the thrill and excitement of Disney in Grimes County! Yea, this area is poor where it is- but Disney will make it nicer. They are already building a high way north of Houston, so maybe Disney is going to be here. WOOT!

I know that's kind of an old post to be replying to, but even though the space needle looks cool, it is incredibly boring. As I'm typing this, I'm realizing that you were being kind of sarcastic, but I was just making a statement that the space needle is boring. I've seriously been up in it like, 15 times. The first time is really cool with the view and all, but when relatives start coming up and insisting on seeing it it gets reaaaaly reeeally dull.
I wouldn't mind Disney buying Wild Waves/Enchanted Village (The place that Six Flags bought). It's in awful shape. I went there recently and it was rather disappointing. The theming is way off, and it's incredibly hard to find a bathroom. And, there's MOLD growing on the slides. Eeeew!
