As a native Houstonian, I have heard three versions of this rumor over the past 30 years. The oldest one that I can recall was in the 1970's and was based on Plantersville, Texas which is the site of the Texas Renaissance Festival. The second one that I recall was based in the general Montgomery County (similar) area in the mid 1980's. In the 1990's I heard of the Katy rumors, which even have a specific tract of land mentioned. It is all the area northeast of the Tinseltown on I-10. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=katy,+...9232&t=k&hl=en
Realtors love to perpetuate these rumors, but I consider them just real estate investments that any company that size makes. Sorry, no mouse in Texas other than the river rats in New Braunfels... |

I found this site searching online for information as to the credibility of this rumour. I live on Lake Buchanan in Texas and have just recently heard this rumour, first from an employee of Canyon of the Eagles,
http://www.canyonoftheeagles.com/ he said that the employees were told that Disney purchased the ranch land next door....hmm Next I heard it from a local realtor. The statement I read here about realtors using these types of rumours to their advantage most likely fits the bill in this case. Of course there have been a number of "details" also included in this rumour. Thanks Ya All for keeping up with Disney and their plans and the rumours, I can rest better knowing that this is just a rumour, at least for the moment. Hugs! Paige in Tow, Texas |

a plan to build a Disneyland in texas is a total and complete FABRICATION. it is just a rumor and nothing more. actually, i think that rumor started right here on this site because there is a guy who started a thread about "Disney Kingdom" a meshing of Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom to be put in Texas, where he is from. but that's just a made up thing he created, not a rumor or actuality. Disney is not looking to build anymore theme parks in America. instead they are still looking overseas to Europe and other countries. i would stick with the Austrailia thread. a DL down under is much more believable (and cooler) than one in Texas

If they ARE planning a DL for Texas, (I don't think so), why don't they make one in the North!? They always put a DL in the South!

it has to do with warmth...when people go on vacation in the summer, most want warmth more than cold...although a Snow Disneyland, a park themed to be a ski resort or something like that, could be pretty cool (no pun intended) if done right. expand on that and let's see what we can create!

Let's hope that Disney will not clone parks and attractions. Because if they do, then it will sometimes be a flop. But Hong Kong Disneyland wasn't a flop, it was a success and I don't want Disney to lose money. Disneyland Texas is just a rumor, but wait a miunte, why did Six Flags built so many Six Flags aumsement parks in some states?

I think a Disney Park in the Northern Hemisphere would be a bad idea. I live in Minnesota and I know no one would be attending the parks in the winter. The only amusement park up here that is open year around is Camp Snoopy. And that is because it is indoors. Us Northeners need a place to escape in the winter. For me its WDW or Disneyland. Sometimes we need a break from the harsh reality of winter.
As for a Disneyland in Australia? I think that's a great idea! Australia is so far from all other countries with a Disney Park, why not? A Disneyland in TX? I heard the rumor six years ago while I was a CP at The Studios. I hope not. I think two Disney Parks in the USA are enough. If there was one in every state, the magic of the park experiance will be greatly diminished. Leave the franchises to Six Flags and Sea World.
