Question 'Cars 2'

JV Pixar News swears that this is true according to a "very reliable anonymous source":
Cars 2 to be released after TS3!

My dad's friend who works for Disney told me this. He said it was about a world grand prix. I don't really want it to come out. Bet it will have something with Guido's Ferarri obsession.

I hope this is not true.
Cars was good, yet as much of a Pixar fan I am, it wasn't that good. The quality of animation was great, but the story.. Just a bit too dull for me.. Not the best out of Pixar.
Plus, it was terribly strange knowing the fact that you're watching talking automobile's for two hours..

I thought Pixar wasn't very keen on sequels. The only way they'd do one was if the previous story was extremely successful and if they came up with a perfect sequel to build up off it.. Like Toy Story.
Now Cars, I didn't think was successful compared to Pixar's other works.

Then, I also wouldn't be able to bare two years of Pixar sequels, Toy Story 3 then Cars 2?.. I wanna see more originals, not reused characters and title names.

Cars was great and all but the thing is the reasons sequels rarely do well is because they put all their best work into the initial movie and thats why it does so well at the box office. Thats why there is never the same magic with the sequels. It will probably go straight to DVD. Now Wall-E looks pretty interesting as long as its not just another Robots knockoff

I liked Cars, it was one of my favorites. I understand we all have diffrent opinions, but I don't see why you guy's didnt like it. If it comes out in 2010, there is still some room to cancel it. I hope it ends up that way. But Pixar may need it. It was a movie that boys were able to like. In the 40's, all the Disney movies were about Princesses, and up to before Cars, what did the boys get (clothes, or school related) that had to do with a Pixar movie? All the girls ran around with the Cinderella Backpacks and princesses costumes for Halloween. Now, with Cars, the boys have something to play with too. It was such a hit with them.

To me, this is not a rumor, because the guy who told me works for Disney, and leanrs about this stuff all the time. I understand he is not a news source, but I believe this will happen.

Cars 2 is not far-fetched at all. Lightning McQueen still hasn't won a Piston Cup!

Personaly, I don't understand what people don't like about Cars. I thought it was one of the best movies I've ever seen. The visuals were jaw dropping, the characters were dynamic and interesting. The story was extremely well thought out and always interesting. i know people saw that it is a retread of a cliched story, but I didn't see that. i saw an amazingly well thought out and executed movie.
As for a sequel. i could never see that. This is one of those movies where they ride off into the sunset and the story has come to end. i hate wen studios try to bring a story like that alive again through some cheap process, introducing a new character, breaking the group apart (Cough.Ice age 2.Cough.). It just doesn't work, it just feels cheap. There are movies you can create great sequels to, but Cars isn't one of them.
