Default Bye Bye Matt Ouimet?

An interesting read from O-Meon.com.

What We Know

On Monday, December 5, webmaster and author Jim Hill of JimHillMedia.com published his account of a story that, according to his sources, is a hot topic around Walt Disney World (WDW) in Orlando, Florida. According to Hill, Disneyland Resort President Matt Ouimet will replace former WDW president Al Weiss as head of the Disney Company's sprawling multitheme park and hotel resort in central Florida.

Weiss was recently promoted and made President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. He will report directly to Jay Rasulo, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. At the time of Weiss' promotion, the Disney Company had not named a new WDW president.
The Disney Company announced that Weiss, who became head of the Orlando-area resort in 1994, would continue to oversee WDW on an interim basis until a successor is appointed. In addition, he will remain in Orlando to assume his new duties even after his replacement at the Florida property is found.

Speaking to the press following his appointment to his new job, Weiss said he planned on assisting Rasulo in finding his replacement at WDW and that this process might take as long as a year.

According to Hill, "?you can pretty much forget about that whole? scenario." He went on to say that Disney management has already found the perfect replacement for Weiss as head of WDW, and that Disneyland Resort President Matt Ouimet is that man.

Yeah, I'm hoping this is all just rumor. Disneyland needs him. Unfortunately, it probably is true. Only time will tell.

I hear this guy named Eisner's looking for a job....

Why are they replacing him. He just got in the ownership of the park.

First off, he's not in ownership, he just runs the thing. Second, they're not replacing him. It's a compliment, really. "Look at what you've done with Disneyland in such a short amount of time. Let's have you run a bigger area like WDW and see what you can do." Can't blame the man if he decides to take this. Wish he wouldn't, but his talents would be used greatly in Orlando as well.

I'm going to keep this in Off-Topic for now, but normally topics like this (where you cite a rumor on another site) belong in the Rumor Mill.

Ouimet gets another opportunity to clean up someone else's mess. If I were him, I'd be getting tired of being Disney's head janitor, but it's another great opportunity. I'm interested to know what Al Weiss did that was so great that warranted promotion. Disneyland will sorely miss Ouimet if he does go. Guess it means I'll have to take more trips to FL!

Yeah, I decided to put it in the Rumor Mill now (Since it's a obviously just a rumor), I usually put info dealing with People in Off-Topic.

I think Matt has done a terrific job at Disneyland, I certainly hope he will continue to stay here at the west coast.

But should he be offered this great promotion, I wouldn't hold it against him to leave. Its certainly a higher position, and I imagine greater pay.

However, I'm hopeful that Ouimet has set an example for the rest of the corporation, and we'll be seeing more people with his philosophy in higher positions.

The days of Harris and Pressler are over. I seriously doubt Disney will allow the mistakes they made to be repeated.

From LaughingPlace.Com:

Matt Ouimet Not Leaving Disneyland
Reliable sources at TDA in California have told LaughngPlace.com that Matt Ouimet is not leaving his post as President of the Disneyland Resort. Ouimet was offered the position at Walt Disney World but declined it, preferring to remain in his role at the Disneyland Resort.

I think he would have done wonders with WDW, God knows it needs it. Replacing the subs..with a Pooh Playground...it just pains me.
