Apple will NEVER buy Disney. Disney is too big of a company for this kind of purchuse. They could become "partners" in some ways, but one will not take over the other.

Well, Comcast took a stab at it. I'd rather have Apple run Disney than Comcast.

I haven't heard anything about this, I'll look it up.

According to Barrons, the Dow-Jones magazine, Apple has a $10 billion dollar stock market advantage over Disney, which is greatly undervalued at the moment. Steve Jobs is also becoming the company's largest shareholder, even more than Eisner and Roy E. Disney. If Apple wants to take a stab at Disney, they could quite concievably buy the company. Things are just right economically.

Plus, with all the iPod downloading stuff from Disney, and the Pixar assimilation, things are even more ripe for a merger.

Personally, I wouldn't be upset with this if it actually happened. I see Apple as a company similar to Disney, based heavily on customer satisfaction and the marketing of an above-average product. The merging of these two juggernauts would make them a force to behold in the corporate world. It just makes sense.

According to the market, Disney's not powerful enough. But, these things aren't set in stone. Again, this isn't a negative thing. I think it would be a good thing for Disney. It will be interesting to watch how it plays out.

Plus, it's still on the level of rumor and idle speculation at this point. Nothing official has been announced.

I think Steve would be good for Disney and maybe help it to become the company Walt may have wanted it to have become. Pretty interesting though. I do have some reservations or concerns, but all in all, Steve might be the guy to really change the company for the better.

There's no possible way Disney shareholders would approve of this. They can get pretty testy as one Michael Eisner found out.

Very true. I am glad Comcast never bought Disney. I never liked them, they had the worst service in our area and the city pretty much forced them out. I guess we shall see what happens. Huge changes for Disney right now.

I think Disney is in a much different (and better) position now than it was in the last takeover attempt. Plus, I don't see the shareholders being too upset with a company like Apple merging with Disney (I wouldn't say it would be a takeover per se, more of a merger, if it ever were to happen). Then again, I'm no financial analyst, but it seems to me the two companies could easily see eye to eye, and both have enourmous potential worth.

Be sure to watch how the whole new Disney-Pixar relationship plays out in the next year or two. The only example of a similar situation to a Disney-Apple merger that I can think of right off the top of my head is the Time Warner/AOL merger.

At least it's nice to know most of the changes happening around Disney are for the general good of everybody. It's very exciting!

The AOL/Time Warner merger was a good deal for no one. Hopefully they know enough not to repeat that mistake.

^^^Absolutely.

Granted, it was a completely different situation than Disney-Apple, but still. I like to look for past examples of similar events and study how they played out (or didn't).

I could see it now. Try out the all new G6 with new special Pirate features that will bring you closer to the movies and the ride. With an all new pirate ship designed platform, you will surely be a swashbuckler. And edit your very own movie using Disneymovie, the new editing program designed just for that special Disney lover that loves all the sequels they make, so you can make it into a trilogy.

Think of the possibilities people. And now that Apple is using IBM chips, ohhhhh maaannnn!!!! We could actually be in a world of pain. There is my reservations from earlier. The whole capitalization of it all. Do they really need to own so much or have their hands in everything?
