Default Looking for Vintage Footage and Photographs

Greetings!

I am always on the look out for vintage (pre-2000) Disneyland footage. Specifically attractions, parades, fireworks, and shows that are gone or have been dramatically changed.

'Whole' captures are great but not necessary. Even if you only have clips from things that is very useful.

The format is not a concern either. I am looking for reel, 8mm, VHS, DVD, or miniDV. Let me know what you have and I will find a way to transfer it.

THE GOOD NEWS: As a way of saying thank you I will digitize and place your footage on DVD for free. If I end up using your footage on current or future projects - you will get a copy of that for free too.

So, look through your video collections and see if there is anything that might be useful...and then drop me a PM so we can discuss it.

SIDE NOTE - I am also looking for vintage pictures of Disneyland (pre-2000.) They can be in digital format or printed photographs. I will scan printed photographs for you and place them on CD for free.

Thank you very much!

Can you scan slides and get good enough quality? I have some slides from the 1960's? Tom Sawyer Island pre-Fantasmic and others. Would love to share them.

Drats...Seems the slide albums in the garage have been plundered. I have several (9) that I have scanned in just a bit ago and total about 17 MB. I can resize and send examples. Any you want, I can send the larger file. Interesting note, they were taken in 1969 the day the visionists said the earth was coming to an end. If it is going to end - go to Disneyland I always say.

I also found some 1994 and 1996 8mm video tapes. Let me look through them and if there is something others would been interested in I will get back to you. I do have at least part of the Lion King Parade.

Those pictures are incredible! You need to find those missing slides. Thanks for sharing.

People check out the images here.

And the tapes sound great. Partial stuff is good cause as I build up lots of partials I can rebuild a ride/show.

AH! I have a 15mm film of disneyland in it's first week! But I don't have a projector... I can get one and get back to you on that. Of corse, i'd have to transfer it and I'm not sure how i'd do that but I'll think about it!

oh and I have some video from a 1998<?> visit to Disneyland with my family, including Goofy's Kitchen, the front of the monorail (and early construction of DCA!!), Small World, toon town, the grand canyon diorama, Alice in Wonderland, and tea cups in a video cassette.

and I have some vintage Viewmaster images of Disneyland buried deep in some boxes.. I'd have to go searching for it. Anyway I have that video from 1998 or 1999, not sure, but I don't know how to transfer it digitally. I could copy it onto another video tape and send that to you but I don't think it's exactly what your looking for (it's more of a family vacation video.) :-P

There are companies that will transfer film to DVD for you. I would highly recommend that route.

The video could go either way. It sounds like there could be some useful stuff. Of course I could always look at it and then decide. Let me know what you think.

RU, I have some vid off a relative from 1997, mainly several rides on Autopia (of that era) which also shows the Rocket Rods under construction / testing. Also a brief clip of the old Harbor Blvd. entrance plaza, and a few other items. I discussed this with Chris (Lang) a while back but don`t really have a use for it I can think of (nor the time for the foreseable future) so if you`d like me to cap it and YouSendIt to you as a WMV do email me; you know the address :)

ru, i'd be happy to copy the video onto another video and ship it to you cause I don't have the time and money to transfer it.

Oh yeah and on another video, I have a small clip of when my cousins got stuck on peter pan but i'm not sure if it's pre 2000.

I have video from 1993 and 1995. It is of rides, the Aladdin parade, The Sword and the Stone ceremony, the Beauty and the Beast show, the Main Street Electrical Parade, Lion King parade, and this cool Aladdin and the Genie story telling of "The Three Little Pigs." If any of this sounds interesting, let me know.

I have this in a post on another thread, but thought you would enjoy this - I have a 1958 Disneyland map. I believe it was the first printing of an attraction map. It has "future exhibits" such as New Orleans Square, the Haunted "House" next to the Jungle Cruise about where Indy is now, Thieves Market and a Wax Museum where the Haunted Mansion is now. It also shows proposed Lands such as Liberty Square behind Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln when that was the Opera House. There was a Land proposed on the map called Edison Square. It also shows the Rivers of America connected to the Jungle Cruise River. Frontierland was a frontier complete with stage coach rides and a circus tent. It's to big for me to scan (about 3 foot) but maybe I can get a workable photo to post.
