Question haunted mansion effects

hello there, i was wondering, does anyone now what kind of projectors does disney use for all the bust? i.e. madam leota, singing bust, and the little bride thingy-ma-jig. i was thinking of making my own little haunted mansion for 2006 and i don't want to use the old tv screen and ball effect(lame)

i forget the type they use during RDCT but i looked it up and it's like 46,000 per projector haunted mansion busts are probably a bit less but still they use some pretty hefty equipment sometimes.

I'd go with a nice peppers ghost effect. It's cheap, easy and did I mention cheap.

Arrow Projections

Here's an article about the projection in the Seance room. It's at DoomBuggies There's even a link to a patent Disney holds for an internal projection system.

Lightbulb There!

Actually, all you have to do is:
1.Get a plastic head that is HOLLOW and TRANSLUCENT (Opaqe) with a big neck hole at the bottom of it
2.Get the video of Madame Leota (just the head shot) from www.doombuggies.com
3.Edit it (somehow) and get a SMALL (but efficient) video projector
4.Put the edited video on the projector
5.Place the projector inside the head and point it towards the face, make sure the cord come out of the neck hole
6.Put a bunch of cool hair on the head (try adding fiber optics, neon, or glow sticks to the hair for a COOL effect)
7.Put something that looks like a crystal ball (fish bowl, fake crystal ball, etc.) over the head and hair
8.Cut a hole into a table (better not be an expensive table)
9.Get a crystal ball type holder
10.Put the cord through the hole and put the crystal ball on top of the table
11.USE!

There, I hope I didn't forget anything...

The diagram for the peppers ghost looks pretty good, but why is the light so far ahead of the ghostly figure to be reflected? shouldn't it be a bit closer?

whoa you guys are wayy too far behind, the madam leota head effect has changed now because her head is now floating in the room, which means it isn't being projected from inside her head anymore

Well I made a little diogram using a small piece of glass from a picture frame and a box and some Star Wars action figures, I got it to work pretty good. I think like with anything you build, you kinda have to experiment and see what works and what dosen't, but all in all its a pretty easy effect to pull of once you understand the physics of of the trick. I mean heck, you have a whole year to get it right. Have fun!

First of all... !

Secondly, where is it being projected from? It can bee from inside her head if it had a wireless cord that broadcasted to another part of the room. I never saw any projectors in the room so you tell me how they do it!

the projector is in front of madam leota, its on the floor and you can clearly see it moving matching leota's head.. you can't miss it, its a little moving bright light. the only time you can see it is right when you enter the room. check it out!
