Reporting Bad Posts

Hi everyone. As many of you have noticed, we have changed the look of the 'report this post' icon in messages. Becaue it's more visible we are naturally getting more posts reported, but at the same time, many of the posts the come across our desks are posts where one of the examples is occuring:


1. The post is old, several months old. It's unlikely it was truly offensive or the post would have been reported and censored already. There's no point in censoring a post that is several months old and people are unlikely to see it. If you have a question, contact a Mod or Admin before reporting it.

2. Report this Post should only be used in extreme situations where you feel the post needs immediate Mod attention. (By reporting it, email is sent to all 12 VF Staff members). Sending multiple reports is a tremendous waste of resources and should be handled via PM to a Mod or Admin.


3. Offensive material. VF will do it's best to keep offensive material off the boards, however, there's always the chance that somebody, somewhere, may be offended by a post on VF. If you aren't personally offended by a comment, don't assume the role of somebody else and assume what they would and would not find offensive.

As said, if you feel a post needs immediate response, use the Report this Post feature, but otherwise simply forward the offending text to a Mod or Admin via PM.
