Default The Official VF Radio 3.0 Beta Test

Hi everyone,

We are currently beta-testing the new VF Radio. There is a link on the Main Page (Under the updates). We will be playing music throughout the test at selected times. Give us a Shout or leave feedback here on your thoughts. We are mostly interested in:

The quality of the connection (does it skip, drop out, etc)
Volume of voice versus music, etc.

We currently have it set to a maximum of 12 listeners, which we may increase as the test continues.

Let us know what you think!

-Chris

Well, the current version of VF Radio where you can select your own songs really isn't legal anymore. Even if you can't download it, being able to select your own songs and listen to them on demand violates copyright law.

While some of the convieniences of the on-demand system will be missed, I think the overall experience of the new system will help alleviate these concerns. There's certainly a greater variety of material we can choose from, along with a variety of new talent (DJ's) to present the material to you.

If we can have DJs, how far away can we be from Podcasts?

I ahd alittle bit of trouble with it yesterday. I am on a broadband connection, and was using the Quicktime version. It would skip just a bit now and then, but after a while, it would just stop. I had to go to the window, push pause and play, then it would resume.

I really like the new format with everyone hearing the same thing at once, and with the DJs. It should make for some interesting radio shows!

Matt, regarding Podcasts, there are so many other websites out there already doing this, and frankly they do a great job with it. As much as I think it would be fun to try out, we're just barely getting started with broadcasting and I'd like us to get our feet wet with regular broadcasting first.

Hey Chris,
Love Visions Fantastic ... love , love Visions Fantastic! I must say I can't wait until Walt Disney World is on the radio. Now, you wanted feedback. Hmmm. I loved the way you had Visions Fantastic radio the last couple of months and how I could play selections from my choosing from Disneyland. Loved it. Then I checked it today. Not too happy. It's just like that other web site (just looked ... utilidors) which you have to wait for selections to appear. It's just like visions Fantastic was when I first found it. To me, that's going backwards, not forwards. I do need to remember that this is a Beta version ... hope visions fantastic gets everything worked out.

post script ... just read the threads before mine and saw the copyright thing and picking songs. that does suck!!! man!!! no fun. well, hope a happy medium can come between the two (picking our own and one continuous loop playing.

Just to let you know there is a request thread. We usually have someone watching the radio and able to fill requests just post in the thread and we will try to fill the request.

The request thread can be found in the radio forum

I certainly understand the frustration and disappointment. With VF growing we have to start taking some responsability too, and part of that means keeping the site in legal compliance. I think you'll enjoy the variety in the broadcasts from our various DJ's and our large musical selection.

Well....at work I only have Media Player and I can't listen to VF radio very well anymore. It buffers a long time...then plays briefly...then goes back to buffer again. I'm looking into trying to get WINAMP at work...but "THEY" may not let me. Sigh.

Oh...the prior VF radio worked great for me at work. I could listen for hours and hardly ever a blip of any kind.

Default VF Radio... disappointed in the direction its taking.

I really enjoyed the previous version of VFR. I could loop my favorite tracks. Now, we can't. I understand that we can request selections but I don't know how I feel about that. I'm gonna have to go back to listening to my CD's and MP3 tracks.
