I think I like the idea of WALT Disney's California Adventure of the 1930s and the Paradise Pier becomes a pier of yesteryear...well the piers are all nostalgic anyways since there is no modern amusement pier. The Santa Monica Pier's Merry-go-around was used in the movie, "The Sting," and it fit in with that movie of the 1930s.

So if the pier is getting refurbished to be represented of the years Walt Disney first came to California - that is kool. The current theme of California Adventure was kinda unwieldy in that it didn't make sense, unless we were talking about Mike Eisner's California Adventure, which was what it was, really.

Of course, it is possible that they could be recreating an amusement park that Walt Disney did not like and he built Disneyland instead, but we know where the inspriation came from. If they could build a Zephyr train ride then it would add to the Walt Disney experience.

They should bring back that one Walt used to have, It's in a lot of the videos that talk about the park now a days when they flashback to when walt was around they show him in that little train.

That would be the ultimate irony.

The way I look at it, they are trying to combine classic Disney with California. When they tried this at first, it failed. The new park WILL pass and attract more guests. I know I will go if I ever get out to California.

I like Walt Disney's California Adventure, that's a keeper. :]

Actually they are trying to bring more Walt into the park, not actual Disney.

I like the original in the fact that whenever I walk through there I always feel serene, and I love the musical loops. However, I would really like to see the finished product to fully see which one is better.

I totally agree.
How can we compare real life to a video?
I'll make my decision when it's complete.

I can't really answer this question until I actually get to experience the new pier. Seeing and reading is not enough.

I Like The Ideas Of The New Pier, But I Like The Old Pier Because It's Not Your Average Pier That You See.

That works for me!

I have to believe that the new version will be better. Turn the Imagineers loose and let them amaze us.

And marketing folks, you can go home early and take the rest of the day off.
