I prefer the new one. Much cleaner, prettier theming.

I can't ever see the Mickey head leaving Cali Screamin and going on the Sun Wheel. And the Sun face to go on Cali Screamin. It's not right! It's like Sid from TS is doing plastic surgery on the place! They'll probably have to re-design or replace the paradise pier posters with the two rides, if not I hope they keep it for memorical reasons. I also dunno if Goofy's flying school replacing Mullholland madness is a good idea, I dunno if it will fit in.

I do not like the new idea for the pier. The only thing I like about the plans is the show they were talking about putting in the middle of the lake. Thats it. I dont like the idea of them putting a mickey head on the ferris wheel. And taking the one off cali screaming.

The original - oldie but a goodie. A very simple design, and simplicity is better than a Pier with contrasting themes.

California Screamin' and Sun Wheel aren't trading them. They're each getting new ones- California Screamin' with the new Paradise Pier logo (that INCLUDES a sun) and Mickey's Fun Wheel is getting a vintage Mickey face along with other special additions for World of Color.

When I go on TSMM, the themeing gives me the "I'm not in Anahiem CA, DCA" anymore.

You're absolutely right. I feel that way when I see Mr. Potato Head. Theren't aren't many AA in DCA anyway. If you exclude Monsters Inc, there really aren't any at all.

The new one is all going to be Victorian theming with Disney touches such as Goofys Sky School. The idea behind DCAs makeover is to bring more Walt into the park. The proposed names for DCA are WDA and WDCA (Walt Disney Adventure and Walt Disney's California Adventure). Its to set the park in the time era Walt arrived in California. The new entrance plaza is supposed to represent the Hollywood that never was. The glitz and glam. The pier is supposed to represent a stylized version of a Victorian Pier. Although in this day and age, you cant completely theme the pier to the Victorian era. Foxy Girls in TSMM instead of Toy Story characters wouldnt work. You cant put older 20s pier rides in their, no one would ride them. Thats why the current ones are getting re-themes to Disney related material. Those carnivalish attractions are prefabbed rides that Disney bought and themed. Thats why a Steel LIM launch roller coaster, themed to LOOK like a old pier wooden coaster, was added. The whole pier is going to represent what the 1920s piers would have looked like, although a much more stylized version, as a accurate one, in a Disney park, would be boring and wouldnt draw attention.

When its finished, the improved Paradise Pier will be, well, an improvement over what's currently there. Intimate and high-quality themeing over bare concrete walls, horrible puns and cheap stucco. That's a tough one to call...

It's really hard to determine which is better when the "New" Paradise Pier hasn't even come yet to be finished.

I think the new Paradise Pier will turn out great :D
as much as getting rid of the Mickey Mouse head from California Screamin' kinda sucks, all plans are obviously for the better ;D

So if someone can put it this way that'd be great:

Is Paradise Pier going to look more like say, the santa cruz beach boardwalk, or are they taking that sort of theme away?
