Smile The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror Question(:

hey[:
i just had a question about this awesome attraction. i realize that the tot here in dca has three elevator shafts and two elevators in each shaft, one on the bottom level and one on the upper. if you ride the elevator that is on the upper level do you not get as big of a drop as the lower level elevator would? like the last drop is the BIG ONE when it just drops straight from the top, but since your on the upper level, do you not make it all the way down the shaft? does only the lower level go to the bottom? so basically what im asking is does the upper shaft not get as much drop as the lower. but dont get me wrong i love this attraction x]. i was just wondering[:

Doesn't matter what floor you start with, your drop is the same. Elevators from either shaft only drop to a certain point, and then gently descend from there to either floor.

The Elevators are not connected to each other in anyway.
They each back up into the shaft onto a platform. They lock to the platform, and the platform carries them up and down, through all the drops. Then it comes back down, unlocks, and the platform goes up to the second floor, and the second floor elevator backs up onto it, locks and does the ride cycle.
So when the upper floor is on the ride, the lower floor is loading.
