You can't blame Pixar taking over rides since rides have been taken over all the time by different things. Look at Innoventions, look at Circle Vision, and even Big Thunder. All these rides had other ones before it in the same place. The only reason why Pixar is so involved is because that's what kids and adults alike love. People love Pixar movies because of what Pixar stands for and the high quality movies they have made. Yes the rides aren't technically original.. but then again what is original nowadays. There can only be so many original ideas that sell before you have to start taking old ideas and improving them. The flying saucers is similar to bumper cars and now they are being made into something new. The submarines in my opinion will always fail to be a great attraction in the long run because it just isn't something we care about in this day and age.
Disneyland is just a place where all the major fads can be seen in one place. Think about when you were a kid and played cowboys and indians, or pirates, or astronauts. These are all things that kids love, they are the primary fads. They become popular and go out in no particular order but they are always present. So to see an age where Pirates is the main theme is not bad, that is how POTC was made. Pixar is just helping the next fad come in, Adventure and Space look like the next two fads. And they are helping with that and even widening the description of those two genres. All in all I don't ever see anything as a bad thing. It may be bad for awhile but it will open the door and teach us something new. And next thing you know we have another Indiana Jones or Space Mountain attraction that everyone loves. |

I don't have an issue with them "improving" past rides. If they wanted to do an Incredibles themed peoplemover, it's better than what we have right now.... no peoplemover at all! Besides, who says they won't ever go in 10 yeras from now and say "the Incredibles are outdated... let's retheme this ride to (current space movie)". I have faith that the imagineers are doing a couple of things 1) trying desperatly to come up with experiences that guests will not just go on once and say "k done with that" and 2) build a park that is not only fun for adults, but that will also create that one of a kind experience for the kids who want to become part of their favorite movies. I did it. I LOVED Peter Pan and Dumbo as a kid. Guess what, I got to ride their rides! How stoked was I? My son LOVES pixar, and everytime we ride on Fliks Fun Flyers or Monsters Inc, the magic lights up in him like nothing I've ever seen. Wait for Cars, the kid will have a heart attack.
I think we forget sometimes that this park is for everyone. We had it one way when we were kids and we don't want that to change. I understand that. I was devastated when they took out the sky buckets! We're lucky they havent' taken out some of the classics like the always slow Snow White and Pinocchio. Let the kids these days have some of their favorites too, and I'm sure we will feel the magic no matter what. Personally, I love Pixar, and I haven't been disappointed yet.

^Of course the imagineers are. But, pretty much it doesn't get approved if its not pixar. Now they come up with hundreds of rides, attractions, or shows every year, and not all of them get approved. All that's been coming out from imagineers is pretty much pixar. So its not all there fault, and they can't really do anything to fix it either.

Well, let us remember not to blame the Imagineers for all of the Pixar elements currently in the Disney parks. Like it was said above, they come up with hundreds, maybe thousands, of new attraction ideas each year and it is the money-craving institutions like TDA that insist Pixar rides are the way to go, simply because of the way these films are worth and just how they draw in big bucks, especially from young children.
So, it's not the Imagineer's faults. Just like you and I, they would also love to give a quality experience matched by no one but themselves, however there is just too much higher influence for them to make any of these "original" attractions. Also, if they insist on making rides based off films, why not have Pixar rest and create an attraction based off other current, well-made movies. Take Narnia for example. The only attraction based off this franchise is an unelaborate, confusing walkthrough that takes you behind the scenes of the movie itself. Why not create something different and original, using simple themes from the Narnia franchise, that's actually a ride. It's really simple if you look at it. It's nice to have Pixar, but nothing needs to go overboard. Create a few quality attractions like TSM and yes, even Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, and leave it at that. There's no need to turn Disneyland into a complete Pixar park. Perhaps they can do that for a third theme park, like a Disney-Pixar Studios type thing. I love Pixar, but it's nice to see some original inner-workings every once in a while. -DFF

oh I wasn't blaming the imagineers. Sorry if it came off that way. I was saying they have done a good job in my opinion with what they have done thus far. I see things more from a child's perspective, so if my son loves it I think it's a good idea :)
I agree with the Narnia thought! They could do some neat stuff with that!
