Unhappy Paradise Pier power outage?

On Thursday, the 25th, my family and I were spending our last day in Disneyland/DCA and we chose to sleep in and be there for the opening of DCA that morning. Once we got into the park we were figuring out where we wanted to go first, Tower of Terror or California Screamin', it's a tough choice obviously. Anyway, we chose Screamin' so we waited for them to open up the pier and let us line up. When we finally got to the rides they were all down. ALL of them, Screamin', TSMM, Maliboomer, and the Fun Wheel. It was pathetic. They were allowing people to line up and wait for TSMM to open, so we jumped in line thinking it would be a really quick thing. While standing there we watched the CM's run test on Screamin' which consisted only of them rolling the train at the launch forward then bringing it back. Again and again. After about 30 mins of this, we decided to bail and head over to Disney for some food.

It was the saddest thing ever. I don't think I have ever seen Disney so unprepared. We were told that the Pier had experienced a power outage, but no one came down to announce that to the crowd waiting to get to the pier before opening. And if they did, they weren't very thourogh about it. As you can imagine, there were not very many happy campers on the pier that morning.

Was anyone there that day? And if you were, how long did it take for everything to finally open up?

But on a good note, my family and I filled a nice family in about single riders and how to effectively use fastpasses while we were waiting for TSMM to open :]

They should have been more specific about what was going on. I've never heard of entire sections of either park being closed due to power problems. As long as you didn't let it ruin your day I guess it ain't so bad, huh?

Actually Power Outages happen sometimes, i remember that someone said something similar Happened at Disneyland a couple of months/years ago... Thing is that they're very uncommon, still, they happen. I'm Glad you had fun at the parks, and that the outage wasn't a real deal with your trip.

i was working that day and i really don't think it was a power outage, but even the CM's weren't very informed about what was happening. I was working in Paradise Pier, and it was the guests that told me that Screamin' was down due to mechanical problems. then I heard that Maliboomer and possibly TSM had problems too. I too thought that something could have been wrong with the power, but I didn't think it was an outage because the electricity was fine in the stores. It would have been weird if it were all a coincidence and they were not linked to each other somehow. I'm really sorry that you had to experience that.

I didn't know some sections of the park could have power outages. That's a first for me to hear. I guess it's normal for the parks to have power outages because they have so much working for them.
