Default The Official Disneyland Guide book...

So the other day I was in the bookstore, and I saw the 2006 Birnbaum guide book for Disneyland... which advertises itself as the official one...

Flipping through it, out of sheer curiosity, I noticed that when it listed the attractions in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot it subdivided the area into two separate areas; "Hollywood Studios" and "Hollywood Boulevard".

Maybe with the placemaking thats going to happen to the hub later this year... we'll see a new sign greeting guests to the hollywood section that changes it from being entirely a backlot, to a more general hollywood experience.

By the way... the book is really bad. Its just the descriptions you could find on the website... and whats worse is the map of DCA is sorely outdated. Tower of Terror and A Bugs Land, while mentioned in the book, arent even areas on the map.

What did you expect from an "official" guide? Go with the unofficial- a little more unbiased.

besides, i really think Disney and people who write these books spend less time on the ones describing Disneyland. They really are needed for WDW, which has so much to do and see that without a guide book you're liable to miss a lot.

I have both this years DLR and WDW book. Did you see the WDW book? It's twice as big, completely updated to the guidemaps I have when I go, and filled with images. DLR's has opening day map of DCA, incredibly undetailed maps of DL, and not to mention it severly underates the Tiki Room.

At least the book isn't as bad as the Official DVD Guide to the resort with those two CMs talking about all you could do. Like I want to sigh in contentment on the carousel on paradise pier.
