But if they don't sell one park tickets, the minimum admission price for adults becomes $94. People are clamoring about a $3 increase right now. Imagine what'd they say about a $25 increase to $94. Local discounts or no local discounts, Disney would get a major blackeye from that one, not to mention looking seriously goofy if WDW doesn't raise their 1-day MYW base ticket to a similar price.

Who says they would keep it that price? With the way the CA economy is going the prices will start going down in the next few years. Not to mention that they are letting anyone use the Summer Fun 3 day pass that was only $99.

They have been slowly getting rid of 1 park tickets for awhile now. The next logical step is getting rid of the last of the 1 park tickets.

Disney is not concerned with 'perceptions' of the economy, as long as they are making billions quarterly as a company. As long as that happens, ticket prices will never decline. Beyond that, they will implement more local discounts before they ever actually lower the regular admission prices. To my knowledge, lowering the regular admission price (not as part of any special promo or discount deal) has never happened in Disneyland history.

ANY sort of park-hoppers only move also faces the backlash of guest perception that now Disney is 'forcing' guests to pay for admission to a park that guests weren't interested in, regardless of their length of stay. Since the vast majority of Disneyland attendance is within a reasonable driving distance, this would be still another black eye.

Bottom line, combining the two parks into one flies directly in the face of why DCA was created in the first place, it flies in the face of every single effort made in DCA's direction in the last few years and flies in the face in the efforts made with the billon-dollar renovation plan. It causes so many problems and gives Disney so many public black eyes that it would be a better idea just to bulldoze DCA entirely, rebuild the parking lot, and just forget DCA ever happened. They approved and announced a billion or so reasons why that's also not going to happen.

I'm not against the changes that are taking place, but it seems to me that when all is said and done, will the name "California Adventure" still apply?

I think so. I mean, they'll still have Paradise Pier, and the new entrance is simply going to be akin to how California looked to him when Walt arrived here in the 30's. Besides, do you have any idea how hard it is to change a park name? That's why they held off so long on changing MGM Studios.

Default A question about DCA

From what I've heard, is it true that DCA is going to be going through a serious refurb? And if so, would the refurb be done by early March? Sorry if this on the wrong forum, if it needs to be please move this to the Rumor Mill.

Thanks,
IndyChik

What they're trying to do is add more Disney to the park while still maintaining some of the aspects that define California. I personally don't think that they should change the park name. I like it the way it is.

Here's a link to the discussion on the expansion in the DCA forum. http://www.visionsfantastic.com/foru...-merged-16363/

Yes, it's going to be a serious refurb/expansion and no it won't be complete by March. Lots of goo info in the link above though.

If I'm correct, the "Silly Symphony Swings" re-theming to the Stinger was confirmed recently. And the preview center should be opening next month.

Silly Symphonies Swings? What would that be like? I know about the Silly Symphonies, but how would they make that work with Orange Stinger?

Yes 2010 is supposed to be the finish date, but it'll probably get pushed back, because that's usually what happens.
They are doing small chunks, so all the rides will be open. The only thing that is in question is weather or not they take out Mailiboomer, or the Golden Zephyr. Moholland madness will most likely get changed into something else. The Sun wheel is getting the sun taken off, and a mickey put on. Then the a sun will go over where the mouse is on Cali Screamin. That change may affect the sun wheel, and possibly Screamin', but most likely not Cali Screamin.
So if you will be going during all this construction, have no fear, the park will be open, and most everything will be open.

don't think they've started the Cali/Sun Wheel refurbs yet, I went last wednesday through saturday and everything was working. It's gonna be weird seeing those two things switched though...I won't be used to it.

Cool The Band Concert

The new theme is a 1935 Mickey Mouse cartoon titled The Band Concert*. In the toon, Mickey's band continues to play even when a tornado picks them up and spins them around.

In the center, standing at a podium, will be Mickey holding his baton, conducting the music; park guests will stand in for the band, spinning around and around.

*The Band Concert isn't acually a cartoon from the Silly Symphonies series, but at the time, that series was billed as "Mickey Mouse Presents Silly Symphonies"... and with the musical theme, I guess it's a good enough fit.
