I already love dca so much.. it's so elegant, sophisticated yet exciting, that this will either expand its "magic" and make a great park even bigger... or may turn it into a commercial, largely pixar movie based place. That would make me sad, since Dca is fine as it is. We'll see... I'll be sure not to miss it!

I would say that your definitly among a small population in that beleif there mexica. Alot of people alon with myself, think that they definitly cut corners where they didn't need to, a lack of imagination definitly hindered this park. But hopefully this money and the involvment of some really good people, will steer this park to his rightful place. And I seriously hope that they don't turn it into PIXAR land, it was that lack of imagination that hindered it in the first place.

I don't understand why they designed the layout of it the way they did. Dead end sections that you had to hike down just to go way back again to get anywhere. And the Frisco area really has nothing to it other than Golden Dreams show and a bathroom. Could have at least made a shop or food stand in one of the buildings there. There needs to be things happening on the water too. Even a daytime water fountain show as well. Kinda like in Vegas.

the exact things you criticised, Executioner, are the only flaws I found in Dca. I never even realised there was a San Francisco street till I got back from my trip and looked at the dca map longingly, (like so many other times...)
The only thing I don't agree with is the water show, I like how it seems like a tranquil sea by the pier, and the view of Paradise pier by night is a show in itself, don't you think? oh and I think they could maybe tear down monsters, inc. and install a "roger rabbit style" ride in which you'd go racing through the backlot of the shooting of a disney film gone awry. The story would have to be further developed of course, but it'd be partly based on the 101 dalmatians backlot area by hyperion theater... that would be much better than monsters, which I can say is another flaw with the park.

are they really building four new hotels? or just 4 new DVC properties? i wish they'd build a third park instead of the hotels... seems like third park idea has been postponed for a while now no? Probably partly due to the zoning dispute?

Seeing as the park had 1 hotel for its first 40 years of existence, and has only had 2 hotels in its first 52 years...adding 4 new hotels seems a bit excessive.

Disney wants to keep guests on their property longer.
They longer a guest stays, the better.
I think Disney should most of all, focus on making DCA the best it can be, if this 1 billion business will do so, before Disney ever considers on making a third gate. Also, hotels I think are great for the resort, as well as expanding Downtown Disney for now.

In a way I agree that DCA is fine the way it is now. I only wish that there were some more big rides. I hope they build a couple more roller coasters with that 1 billion. There are a few things that I think need to be fixed though. As someone mentioned before, the pathways don't really connect all through the park. That makes it harder to get from place to place especially when there is a parade going on. The Monster's inc. ride is so lame to me. Superstar Limo was better in my opinion, but even that wasn't that fun. A Disney movie themed ride sounds like a good idea to me. I wish the waves were still in the water. That would make the pier more pleasant. For the most part, I think that DCA is fine, but if they are going to add more character/movie based rides, please make them DISNEY and not Pixar!

Not to get too off topic, but as a CA public school teacher I can verify there has been no meaningful infusion of money into CA education, at least in the going-on-17-years I've been teaching in the system, and what has come in has been put in the hands of politicians, not teachers to do the work that needs to be done. Assuming that the billion is enough, let's hope DL gives the power of improvement to the people with the imagination and magic to use it well.

Re: hotels. I drove past Las Vegas again on Friday and commented to my Mom that I can't believe there are THAT MANY people coming to the place to warrant so many additional hotel rooms. With that in mind, I'm sure more hotel rooms are needed at DCA.

Re: Bugs Land. I will grieve if this sweet little spot goes away. I think it's some of the cleverest theming in the resort. If Disney takes it away, I hope they replace it with another land for tiny tots.

OK personally i agree that DCA is fine the way it is...it just needs expansion!
and well of coarse a few fixer uppers...but even DL needs some of that!
In my opinion i think the little dark rides(monsters inc.,and toy story mania) ar lame and a waste of money! Why not build something constructive like a new roller coaster or an "e" ticket attraction DCA defnitally needs some indiana jones or splash mountain effective rides!
I still think they should build a flying incredibles rollercoaster..that winds its way through a city!

You forget...the 'little dark rides' were an improvement themselves over what was there.

I'm so so afraid that this will be a giant demonstration as to how to completely squander $1 Billion. What was that line from Hamlet?

What DCA will probably get is $1 billion worth of Pixar rides that have nothing to do with California. People say this money will make the park more focused, but I think it will make it a jumbled mess. It will become a mix of some California stuff and random Pixar rides that have nothing to do with California. Just look at the Ratatouiile ride. It's rumored to replace a fine film about the people, history and culture of California.

It just shows how low Disney has become. They have no standards anymore.
