I've heard a few things, one consistent thing I've been hearing is that they are going to be using a lot of the money for a new water show so Fantasmic can be retired. I've also heard that they are going to refurb some current rides and add a few...and blended in with those rumors are that DCA wil eventually be a Pixar themed park. Hey, if it'll bring DCA a Crushes Coaster like in Paris, I'm all for it.

I'm all for anything that will help DCA....and anything is better than the park right now.

Retiring Fantasmic so a show can be installed at DCA would cause an uproar, I would think.

Oh no doubt but you know there is no way Disney is going to have 2 big shows going on at once....especially with how upset people get when they're done watching DEP in DCA then realize they won't make it to Main Street to watch pyro....
Retiring fantasmic wouldn't last long, but I think Disney is going to try

There won't be a retirement of Fantasmic! for DCA's Wonderful World of Color nighttime show. They won't bat an eye about running both shows at the same time.

DCA as it exists right now, is a kind of appendange extending out from Disneyland. Disney's aim from the beginning was to have 2 seperate theme parks. Right now with the scheduling, people don't need to treat them as 2 seperate parks, largely for that reason - there is nothing going on when RDCT and Fantasmic! are going on. The only way to change that is to run a bg nighttime show in DCA at about the same time.

Every other Resort has big nighttime entertainment at the same time. In WDW - people must choose if they want to watch Wishes @ Mgaic Kingdom, IllumiNATIONS @ Epcot, or Fantasmic! @ Disney-MGM Studios. In Tokyo - people must choose if they want to watch BraviSEAmo @ DisneySea or Dream Lights @ Tokyo Disneyland.

Now here they'll have to choose probably between RDCT and Wonderful World of Color since DCA will be long closed before the 10:30 Fantasmic!.

If I had to guess, I'd say we'll see Color shoot off at 9:00pm (when Fantasmic! is going on in Disneyland), then there won't be time to get over to RDCT in time at 9:25pm, though you'll see some try to see both.

Yes, they are 2 seperate parks and can be treated as such. Like Matt said, there are many things you and everyone else will miss throughout the day as it is. It all comes down to what you want to watch and not watch. I think it would be cool if they added a water show to DCA, cause it will help draw more crowds to the park. Now a firworks show would not be good because it would conflict with the one they have playing at DL. It wouldn't be good to be hearing firworks of one show while trying to pay attention to another. Very conflicting. Now if they made it part of the same show so you really would see fireworks all around it might help alleviate crowds from Main Street, kinda like they did for the 50th by having a show on the Small World building that correlated with the show. But I doubt they will do that. either way, I am glad they are getting money to do something there for the park to bring more crowds in.

...and thus why I created this thread in the "Rumors" section. So we could safely discuss and dream and gossip about what a billion dollarz would buy.

Me? I'm going along with Matt... BETTER than Tokyo Disney Sea. Imagine so much of what's in DCA now was originally imagineered by the guy who put together the abortive "Disney's America", but done on the cheap.... and imagine what his team will dream up with a pretty decent purse to dip from!

And according to Al Lutz, that night time show in the lagoon, the Toy Story Mania ride and some other "fixes" already in the works do NOT come out of that billion dollars, so that's a pretty good start right there!

I've heard the new show in DCA referred to as the "Fantasmic Killer," because they want to make the show good enough that retiring fantasmic won't raise too much of a fuss.

I heard they're adding a loop to the new show.

Well that does sound good if it is true. The more money for other adventures the better. Can't wait to see what is going to be happening to the park.

If the Lagoon show and Toy Story Mania are not coming from the $1 Billion Dollars, oh man, DCA has so many possibilities right now. But, that's only if they actually put the money to good use.

Well, they have $1 billion dollars to put into good use, and with that money, I hope that they can make DCA rival DisneySea.

Also, suppose the nighttime show blows off at 9PM (because that would seem like a practical time to do it), when would DCA close then? Depending on how long the show is, they'd have to make it close at like 10PM!

Well hopefully with all these additions and changes, they can have it stay open as late as Disneyland. They realy need to treat t as a stand alone park and not an addition or extension to DL.

With the new lagoon show, I do see a possible extension in operating hours. 10 possibly?

^ Only if there are enough people left in the park that late to warrant keeping the park open that late.

Folks, you might not know how lucky we are to have parks open so late. No other Disney theme park anywhere in the world stays open consistently as late as Disneyland does.
