I was planning to go, but it doesn't seem that will be possible anymore. Will there be a report on your trip there?

Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon,

I personally don't think it's worth the price. I've taken my boys two of the last three years, and for only four hours 42$ seems like a lot to me. It's fun and yes they give away a lot of candy but I think they should make it for at least six hours. After waiting in line to take pictures with some of the characters and for candy, those 4 hours seem to go by very quickly. It wasn't so bad at first cuz it was cheaper. But last year I just decided to use our yearly pass and go to DL. There were plenty of people ther who were also dressed up.

If you purchase ahead of time, you can get the tickets for less than $42. Ours were $30something. This year's party was not as awesome as last year's was in my opinion...mainly becuase half the park is ugly and you have to walk throught the construction hallways. When the whole park is open, it's a lot better. We still had fun though and got lots of candy.
There were a lot of characters to take pics with, but we opted to not stand in those lines. My son is super interested in that anyway. Lots of characters were just walking around (Bowler Hat guy, Queen of Hearts, Ugly Stepsisters) and we were able to get pics with them. The main "stand in line" characters are Mickey and Minnie, the princesses, and Captain Hook. Still had a great time!

^I wasn't close enough to see which Peter Pan it was. Sorry He was mostly a meet and greet, but every now and then, he'll start walking around. He's down by the restaurants on the pier so he interacts with a lot of people.

I'd say the party would be worth it if it wasn't hard ticket.

Paying $30-$42 for 4 hours of admission is just entirely too short a time when you're talking about a crowd of 10-20,000 or more. Crowds become entirely too concentrated and the feel of the individual experience can get lost. While that doesn't mean it's impossible to have a good time, when I compare that experience to the kind of 7-10pm experience DCA provides with a regular admission, I'd choose the regular admission experience.

It could be done very similarly to how Six Flags does Fright Fest but would keep all the Disney branding n' what not. From a guests' perspective that would seem like the better way, but I'm sure from the DLR's perspective they'd rather have all the extra admission cash from the hard ticket format.

Matt, check on that number. (I can't find it) I beleive that far fewer than that are let in each night. There are so soooo many people that stand in lines for the characters, and the ones that are only there for the candy stops, that ride waits really are not long at all. Like a slow day at the park.

Well from what I've read in years past, the crowds at the party were certainly larger than an average day, which puts the party attendance at 10-20,000. I wish there was some hard data for the attendance but parks have put a very large clamp down on information like that. It's gotten to the point where certain parks threaten to terminate employment if an employee publicly discloses that they even receive information like that, much less divulge its contents.

It's entirely possible that since this party is now in its 3rd year that things have become more streamlined & many of the wrinkles have been worked out. That would explain a change from long waits for candy that I read in the first year to now short ones, and rides running at larger capacity instead of scaled back operations done in anticipation of smaller crowds for the private party, creating the change from long waits to shorter waits.

It's hard for me to say though, since I've never actually physically been to this event. I wish I could go but it's not a luxury I can really afford right now.
