Exclamation Maliboomer Staying Put

I just recently went to the Disneyland Resort (show some pictures later) and I visited the Blue Sky Cellar in which an imagineer as well as a DCA tour guide was there answering questions from numerous guests next to the Paradise Pier model. So I went up to them asking what exactly would take place of the Maliboomer thinking that it would be something spectacular, and this is exactly what he told me... "the Maliboomer will not be effected by the Paradise Pier makeover, however, this attraction will be rethemed including the paint scheme, queue area, and overall theme. The attraction itself, as well as the current name, will remain the same."

I was surprised, dissapointed, and excited at the same time because I would of liked to see something else placed there instead, but I'm glad that there changing the way the Maliboomer is viewed.

What are your thoughts?

This isn't good in my opinion. Changing the ride's theme and color scheme doesn't change the quality of the attraction. It's just another carnival-styled ride. As much as others like the ride, it either needs to be torn down or remodled to look like something you would actually expect to find at a Disney park.

The concept art on the walls of the building show it as a parachute ride, I remember seeing them specifically. There is no way they could keep the current attraction while re-theming it to the Victorian style beachfront, because I think the new ride has only one tower, and not three. So, unless they decided to scrap the concept in the pictures, it will be torn down.

I am not sure what the point would be tearing it down, how are you going to get big pieces of a new ride over or under the Cal Screamin' track?

I actually read about it on Wikipedia (yes, we know how "reliable" it is) and it said that due to budget changes, the Maliboomer has been spared from being demolished. I love the Maliboomer since I've only gotten a chance to ride it a few times last year so I'm glad it's being spared.

Basically the same way Midway Mania and accompaning giant building under/behind Screamin' was built. In 'Boomer's case, a simple large crane would be employed. As for the point, well, I don't remember very many Space Shot's in the Victorian era. Plus it would do some necessary alterations of the skyline.

I like Maliboomer a lot but I would have preferred to have seen a parachute drop in place of the current king of the skyline.

Glad to hear that it's staying. I love that ride. I hope the Orange Stinger stays too. I don't remember if that's supposed to go or not.

Exactly... The orange will be removed and the swings will stay. They will just get a new theme. I think this is much better. I'd rather ride a swing ride out in the open and get a great look around the park with a little thrill of "I hope my swing doesn't fly off into the water" feeling. Can't wait to see it.

Oh thats good, I never really rode the Maliboomer for some reason when I went so now I'll have a chance. I can't wait to see DCA when all the retheming is done, it should look great!

I like the maliboomer, and the only problem I've ever had with it was its theming, so this makes me very happy!

This is the problem with believing you know everything that's 100% certainly going to happen based off a year old model, or other less-than-reliable source of information when plans can change at any time anyway.

First off, Maliboomer's removal was not a certainty at all. It's fate was never confirmed, nor truely discussed in any of the plans. Sure it wasn't really mentioned, but neither was Screamin', and I kinda doubt that means Screamin's going to be removed. This is one of those ideas/plans that was being bandied about, but has been rendered a low priority at this point, like the moving of the Zephyr. We'll know more in 3-6months once heavy work on World of Color is in full swing.

Nothing is 100% certain until it's actually constructed. Plans for attractions like Silly Symphony Swings and Goofy's Sky Skool can be regarded as more certain than other plans for reasons respective to them, but they can also be altered for one reason or another at a moment's notice. What's going on with Mickey's Fun Wheel and Games of the Boardwalk are just about at the 100% level since construction is going on, but things can still change there as well. Maliboomer's removal was nowhere close to any of the aforementioned attractions. We really don't know its destiny at this point, but we will eventually.
