Ummmm... okay... is this a post-gain thread? It seems kinda pointless.

EDIT: If you're just talking about the Disneyland Resort, than yes, California Screamin' is the fastest attraction. If you're talking about all of the Disney parks in general, than Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in Walt Disney World Resort goes at 57 mph. So there.

California Screamin is regarded as one of the best coasters in CA by roller coaster enthusiasts.

When you ride a ton of rides, you learn that inversions dont really contribute that much to the rides. Simple things like bunnyhops or the length are the strongpoints of a roller coaster. Loops, corkscrews, and most inversions are only to create a phsychological thrill.

You also have to remember that DCA is not trying to be Magic Mountain. Despite what some may think, it is still a park where families can go and experience everything together. They were not trying to make the most thrilling, crazy roller coaster. I love roller coasters myself, and although I would not say CA Screamin' is one of the best coasters in CA, I would say it is very fun and of the right caliber for a disney theme park. It is fun and gentle enough for younger riders (while still having the scare of the loop) and at the same time is fun and exciting for coaster enthusiasts. CA Screamin' is perfect for DCA... it's just the queue theming we need to work on...

I completely agree with you. Disney tries to create THEME parks with THEMES not excitment. If you want a rush, then go on some real rollercoasters at Magic Mountain. Disney theme parks are times for familiesor friends, not for adrenaline rushes. :~)

^ Yeah, only real rollercoasters never get repainted in 10 years, stack all the time due to 15yo op's, only run 2 trains max, and soar majestically over asphat paved & striped former employee parking lots. Those parking space stripes really get that adrenaline going!

Test Track at Walt Disney World goes 65MPH.

I totally agree with arrowfanman & I think all real coaster enthusiasts would agree. You could make a coaster with 14 'inversions' and you'd just get a whole bunch of sick people. But, make a coaster with a lot of airtime, acceleration, change of direction, headchoppers, trick-tracks, helixes etc & you'll have a lot of very very happy riders. It's too bad Screamin's forces have been reduced by about 40% due to new trim brakes installed before the loop & bunny hills.

California Screamin' was designed by Intamin AG, which is known for creating many thrilling roller coasters around the world. Disney's was particularly designed to emulate the old boardwalk coasters like those in Coney Island and along the West Coast (you can still see some in Santa Monica and San Diego). It is widely regarded as one of the smoothest and best roller coasters by enthusiasts across the country, it's beauty lies in its simplicity.

I second DCA Fan. If you are a coaster enthusiast, then you must appreciate the fact that California Screamin' plays homage to the old "woodies" of the boardwalks.

Also I believe its the longest coaster in CA.... anyone wanna correct me?

Longest overall rollercoaster in California, longest steel looper in the World, longest Disney/Intamin project...

As someone who doesn't like really fast roller coasters, I must say Screamin' is perfect. As others have mentioned the ride wasn't made to be like those at Magic Mountain. It's a Disney-coaster. Screamin' is more fun and exciting than "woa, that was hecksa fast!!!!"

well, why did they install the brakes in the first place, is it because of too much stress on the track at that one point?, and it is open again right?

The best guess is because OSHA said so. Yes, it is currently operating daily.

my cousin is a self-proclaimed rollercoaster enthusiast and he frequents sites much like this one all about rollercoasters, and you're right that Screamin' is regarded as one of the best. He sais a lot of people like it for its simple design as well as the soundtrack, which most if any rollercoasters do not have.

Besides, have you noticed how smooth Screamin' is??? it's soooooooooo smooth, i love it!
