Thumbs up Why is Pixar taking over disneyland?

I don't like the fact that there is too much pixar in disneyland. It kills the originality of disneyland. I know all of these rides/attractions bring alot of peopleto the park but come on.POTC, FN , BlAB.Its just not right .Don't get me wrong I like Pixar but it's just to much.

POTC is not Pixar, but anyway: It is easy to make, and the kids understand. They get to go see Nemo and their favorite characters from the movies. This may just be a phase. In 10 years, they may start putting a bunch of non-movie related rides in. If you think about it, nearly every ride there has to do with a movie. Space mountain, BTMRR, Astro Orbiter, and Autopia are the only rides that do not have something to do with TV or the movies. Even the Monorail was modeled after Buck Rodgers.

It does seem the rides that are current all come from the movies... but really Disneyland is basically the world of Disney, and also serves as a way to experience the movies and shows through a way that is interactive, and truly immersive, with a few classics here and there such as POTC and HM.

Everyone has to accept that fact that Pixar IS Disney and they are here to stay!! And Pixar films bring a TON of money to the company! So why wouldn't you create rides and attractions that people expect to see when they visit your amusement park?

Pixar is NOW Disney... Buzz Lightyear, Nemo, Mike and Sully, Flik and co. are no more Disney than Studio Ghibli. While I would be way more interested in a My Neighbor Totoro ride than yet another Pixar franchise, the point is that they're not Disney. They're not even in the same class as Mickey, Peter and Snow.

I would say count your blessings....with Pixar's John Lasseter at the helm of getting attractions to Disneyland, you'll be seeing rides with bigger budgets and better quality than we have in the past few years.

I loved My Neighbor Totoro as a kid. I would watch it over and over. I even had a stuffed animal of the little blue guy with the bag.

Anywho... Pixar is what it is. As much as I don't like all the Pixar changes I can't do anything about it so I guess I'll just have to roll with it. Although, somewhere deep down inside, I like the idea of Woody hanging out in Frontierland. Woody is pretty cool.

As much as I really don't agree with the Pixar changes, in the long run they're for the better in terms of keeping Disneyland updated and ever chaning. Thinking about this on a realistic perspective, would a 6 year old child rather relate to a ride based off of Finding Nemo and Toy Story, or Tron and The Black Hole. All in all though, this is not a good excuse for Disney to not create original attractions such as HM or POTC. Even at TDS they have original attractions such as Journey to the Center of the Earth and Storm Rider. The fact of the matter is though is that I'm glad the empty spaces are being filled. I'm glad that Disneyland is being restocked with attractions that are new and exciting. Is it a fair trade off and good excuse to not make original attractions? I don't think so. Is it for the better though to create new memories for the next generation of Disneyholics? Most definately. In the end, it's an ever changing process since (evidently) Disneyland will never be completed. Think about how the first generation Disneyholics thought about the fact of replacing Monsanto's Hall of Chemistry with Adventure Through Inner Space. For second generation Disneyholics think about how they felt when they replaced the Chicken of the Sea Pirate ship with a new revamped Dumbo back in 1982. In the end though, it is a give and take process. Personally though, realistically, it is for the best, but in the long run I really don't like it since I would rather see original attractions or attractions based onthe classic Disney characters and characters from the Disney films I grew up with as a kid.

*I'll get off my soapbox now*

Ah.. I love knowing that others enjoy "My Neighbor Totoro". It's probably on the top of my favorite movies list.
As for PIXAR.. I can live with it.

Whether or not Pixar is Disney is irrelevant. There is too much cartoon and movie based stuff in the parks period. I would feel the same way if all the new attractions were based on Disney characters. Disney had huge hits in the 90's yet those films only got temporary shows and parades or very minor rides. They have gone overboard with Pixar and the amount of movie based rides in unprecedented.

I wouldn't mind Pixar rides in moderation. The problem is that's all they are doing these days. It's Pixar, Pirates or nothing. Disneyland was meant to be a variety of experiences. It's supposed to have history, education, nostalgia, a vision of the future along with Disney characters. There's no balance or variety anymore. It's all singing cartoons.

Putting in Pixar rides seems like a good idea right now. I think it will hurt the park in the long run. People will get tired of Pixar and the lack of variety. The more cartoons they add, the more they get rid of Walt's vision for the park.

Just because certain Disneyland presidents and Disney CEOs wanted to do things on the cheap doesn't give Lasseter free reign to Pixarize the entire park. High quality/big budget doesn't necessitate a movie-based theme, at least, that's not what they used to believe...

To me it's a no-win. I'm growing increasingly tired not only of Pixar, but of CGI films in general. And if one is at all into Disney, then Pixar is all over the place. You can't ignore them (or Jack Sparrow), no matter how much you might want to.

So yeah, I'm not interested in Astro-Blasters or Finding Nemo, really. I've been in Flik's Fun Fair once and have no intentions of going back to Monsters Inc. And a little part of me dies inside every time I see Woody in Frontierland.

The problem with gaining the Pixar market is that you risk losing everyone who not only doesn't care about Pixar, but would prefer to actively avoid it.

All I have to say is: "A vista into a world of wondrous ideas, signifing man's achievements,a step into the future with predictions of constructive things to come."-Walt Disney
Where are toys-coming-to-life and talking fish mentioned or even possible in the future? Not Pixarland,Tomorrowland! Hear that "Corporate Disney"?
Let Pixar have California Adventure.
My two cents.
