^^ niiiiiccceee I didn't think a movie tie in would work well with the peoplemover. My fear was that the same thing would happen to it as did pirates. Ruining a classic with a movie tie in. All in MHO and I know a lot of people will disagree.

You know when you think about it, Tony Baxter is the greatest imagineer at WDI right now. He is the Marc Davis and Claude Coats of today. Think about all the rides he is responsible for:
Big Thunder Mountain Splash Mountain Pretty much all of DLP Indiana Jones Adventure Star Tours Voyages of the Little Mermaid (Coming to DCA) Tomorrowland 2055 (Never built) Some of DCA The Redo of Critter Country in 2003 (Didn't like it even he wasn't happy) The Redo of Tomorrowland in 1998 (He didn't like it either) Journey into Imagination The Disney Gallery The 1982 Redo of Fantasyland and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. And I'm sure he will behind some things in the redo of DCA and the supposed redo of Tomorrowland in a few years. Maybe we will finally see Plectu's Fantastic Intergalactic Revue! If I were him I would bring the Country Bears to DCA. I just hatched an idea, what if Disney remade the Magic Skyway attraction from the World's Fair and set the queue in place of Honey, I Shrunk the Audience? It can be called Time Taxi, and be set in 900,000,000,000,000,000 A.D. where time travel is a present mode of transportation. Then guests can go on a wild taxi ride through the primeval world, (visible from the DL Railroad), the Ice Age, and a grand finale in the lights of the future, with people walking on treadmill sidewalks, robots performing daily chores, people flying hover cars, a near collision with a monorail, and aliens landing in an airport. That would be cool right? They need something in the Carousel Theater, it is really empty, sad, and boring in there. A dark reminder of Tomorrowland 1998 and the Disney Decade. Maybe build Plectu's Fantastic Intergalactic Revue on one floor and a restaurant on the other? You know that Tomorrowland 2055 was going to add two stories to the Star Tours and Circlevision Theater and would have featured in the entire land: Disneyland Monorail- Much like the ones just released. Disneyland Railroad The UFO Show- A BLAB style ride where guests would have shot at eerie gremlin-like aliens on the floor above America Sings' old spot. Plectu's Fantastic Intergalactic Revue- Plectu and a crew of aliens have crash landed their ship in Tomorrowland and have put on a benefit concert to help rebuild the damages, housed below the UFO Show in place of America Sings. Space Mountain- Made to resemble DlP's. Astro Orbitor Rocket Rods Star Tours ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter- In place of Mission To Mars, thank gosh it was never built or it would be Stitch's Great Escape today. Timekeeper- Would have been built where BLAB is now. Submarine Voyage Autopia- A revamp, the one that we have today with the Chevron cars and robot characters. Second story attractions- They were going to incorporate some unused attractions from Discoveryland and Discovery Bay here as well. As you can tell it was delayed by Eisner and the financial train wreck of Disneyland Paris. Kind of sad it could have been great. But then when 2055 came along, they would yet again have to revamp the entire land again. Maybe if they just dropped 2055 it could have worked. The new backstory of the land is that the year is 2055, and aliens, robots, and bizaare electronics, are just a part of daily life. Space and time travel are common sorts of travel, and ancient alien relics from 1986 have been uncovered in Tomorrowland warning humans that they would soon be coming to Earth and be using Disneyland as an intergalactic tourist resort, Tomorrowland being their favorite land. So that explains all the aliens and such. Maybe that's what T-land needs.

I wish they would begin at the beginning and fix the entrance to Tomorrowland. It seems to me that the Astro Orbiter should be back on top of the old Peoplemover station and the rock formations torn out and replaced with some landscaping and wider walkways. This way you could see into the land and the sight of the AO would draw people in. The way it's laid out now seems so cluttered.
The second step should be to find a way to bring back the Peoplemover. I know that this is not a simple thing as the track is said to have structural issues, but I have to believe the Imagineers have the skill to solve that problem without breaking the bank. With a new entrance and the Peoplemover operating, Tomorrowland would already feel about 50% better to me. As for the rest, they could take it one attaction at a time. As this thread shows, there seems to be no shortage of good ideas for new attractions. If we civilians can come up with that many, then Imagineering should be able to really dazzle us if given the chance. I feel that much of the problem with Tomorrowland is the disconnect between Imagineering and the suits. Walt Disney has been called the first Imagineer. He was part of the creative process and he was the guy who called the shots. Walt, more often than not, got what he wanted even if it meant spending a little more money. Walt would take risks that other people thought were financially reckless just to make a project better. Sadly this is not the case today. There is a story that many of you know where Marc Davis came to Walt with two different proposals for doing the Mine Train Ride: "Walt, we have two ways to do this ride. One is the expensive way and the other is much cheaper." "Marc, our job is not to worry about how much things cost, our job is to make things better." I'm thinking that Tony Baxter doesn't hear things like that from Robert Iger. Okay, I am naive, but the suits need to really listen to Tony Baxter and John Lassiter and spend more than they are completely comfortable with to get the results Disney fans have come to expect. Walt showed that this approach can and does pay off. Without the company taking some large risks, there won't be a new and better Tomorrowland. Whaddya say Mr. Iger? Willing to spend a few sleepless nights just to give the people what they want? Walt did. |

I didn't steal the idea from you or anything I took it from Tomorrowland 2055, I bet you Sonny Eclipse would make a good addition to the revue. But I think (knowing Disney today) they would go foward with the Frankie and the Frog band instead of an original, sigh....

You know maybe that's what Tomorrowland needs, Tomorrowland 2055, finally built in a way. Just minus the ExtraTERRORestrial and Timekeeper and the addition of the original PeopleMover and Rocket Rods, with Time Taxi and Adventure Thru Inner Space added to the mix. 2055 would be dropped and turned into 5000 or nothing.

Tomorrowland 2055 sounds like it could've been great. Unfortunately, the higher-ups aren't willing to spend a lot of money just to entertain us full-heartedly as Walt would've liked.
Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon, Sesshomaru-sama

Ah yes, the Dream Tomorrowland project... I think I've written what I would do if I was chief Imagineer with an unlimited budget before. More realistically...
I think what it really needs is a new, E-ish ticket attraction that isn't based on a Pixar film. Heck, that isn't based on a film at all. I finally figured out what it is I really don't like about Pixar rides, above and beyond my not liking Pixar films anyways. The thing with Pixar films is that they're very modern, very engrained in pop-culture. Having the characters in Disneyland itself defeats the whole "here you leave today..." idea. Anyways, my vote would go to the proposed Primeval World attraction. This would basically be an import of the Dinosaur ride in Animal Kingdom, but integrated with the existing Primeval World diorama. It would involve removing Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, but that's fine! I would bring back the Peoplemover as well, maybe putting in a Tr2n Tunnel with the new movie. Or, hey, howabout a whole Tr2n ride? I would rather see something like that where Buzz Lightyear is, repainting the flats and everything so that you're shooting up the computer world. I want to say a new Star Tours film, but I really didn't like the new Star Wars movies, so I'm mixed on that. I would bring back the arcade as a DisneyQuest. And, just in keeping with new technology, I would want to update Autopia with alternative fuel vehicles. Y'know, showcase new technologies and all that. I'm not sure what is possible to do with the existing Innoventions building. If you could import Mission: Space or another worthwhile EPCOT ride into it, then go for it. |

Let's just say Tomorrowland 2055 was built like it was going to be, here is what the attraction line up would be on opening day:
Astro Orbitor Timekeeper Star Tours Rocket Rods Countdown to Extinction (I just learned it was planned for the overhaul) Space Mountain Starcade ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter Plectu's Fantastic Intergalactic Revue The UFO Show (Interactive shooter) Submarine Voyage Lightkeepers (Night-time show) Autopia Now I am kind of glad T-Land 2055 was never built or today we would have at Disneyland: Astro Orbitor Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club Star Tours Countdown to Extinction Space Mountain Starcade Stitch's Great Escape Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Autopia Anyhow I just found this article on Disney and More and it talks about Sci-Fi City, a retheming of Tomorrowland set for TDL. This looks really good! http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/20...lt-disney.html
