Default A Visit in the Summer/Pirates Rehab

A big SHOUT OUT to my Disney peeps! Planning a trip to CA this summer - yes I know the dreaded summer crowd - since my girls and I were so spoiled being AP'rs for so many many years - But one must do what one must do.

This isn't your usual, what to do questions - whats fun about this trip is that I think we'll be taking one of my younger daughters friends who has never been to Disneyland (but has been limitly to WDW) so she hasn't ever had a real experience and I think thats more exciting to do it up for her than actually planning our own trip (weird I know LOL) Kids are talking late nights at the park and we have to do this and that - so they are FINALLY excited!

So 3 day park hoppers or 4? What do you guys think? I would like to do a day at Universal, havent' been there in AGES - worth it or no?

Will the NEW Pirates be open end of July? I know they are going to have the premiere again at DL for Pirates 2 (someone get lots of pix for all of us!) - granted I like Pirates the old way (before the last stupid rehab) but if I have to see the new Pirates I'd like to have the darn ride open.

Maybe we can do a meet during that time? A breakfast meet maybe - take over the outside of the character breakfast on main street - you know that would be kind of fun for everyone to get together

Anyways - tix and Pirates - AND sooooooooooooooo looking forward to going!!!!

the 4 day parkhopper is a great deal if you can get a decent hotel quote. the parkside inn on the south side of the park is ver innexpensive. the 43 day will give you early admission for 1 day and allow you to take your time. even if there are lines, 4 days is plenty of time. pirates will be open by that date according to the official disneyland web page and the castmember i spoke to over the phone. I am sure that pirates will be packed, but the line has always moved rather quickly. I would go with the 4 day, but only if you have a good priced hotel. universal is ok. not great. if you go there, go to universal first. if not, I think you will find yourself dissapointed that its not as good as dl.

Good for you! You get to go to DL during the 50th. Let me just say it is awesome!

Back on topic, you should DEFINITLY get a 4-Day Park Hopper, because that's what I got last summer (and yet I still remember it like it was yesterday), and I got to do 99% of the things I wanted to do!

I don't think you should go to Universal though. I mean would you rather spend more time at Disneyland, or spend that time at Universal. Think about it. Universal.

Anyway, Pirates WILL be open in July, because the official opening, which has just been recently announced by Disney, is supposed to be on June 24. So you should be good to go!

Disneyland will be 51, but the park will still be celebrating the 50th. That's the real

I was at the park for the 50th last year too - I hate not having an AP and being able to go when I want - it really is miserable if your used to the park once a week or sometimes more.

Last year I got the 3 day and actually I got burned out on the park - after not going for a year it was like this huge rush at once and we got tired and burned out of all the celebratin'! It was tough to say goodbye but it was Disney overload and I can't imagine what people go through the first time they go like that.

Being that we will most likely take someone who has never been it might be different this time. Granted since we are from So. Cal I do have family to spend time with - geez you would think Disneyland was the only reason we are there - I have to change that LOL - but I can't spend all my time with family we'd definately end up fighting!

I'm thinking the 4 day this time - skip Universal - take the kids shopping at Rodeo Dr or the Galleria then visit family in LA for a day. They can star watch at Starbucks and I'll go to a few shops -

Not sure if we'll stay at the same hotel - gotta look at the hotel situation - lat year got a hotel room across the street from the park (walking distance) for $69 a night in August. Not bad at all. Saved money for spending at the park and boy did I spend last year!

Glad Pirates will be back up and running - hope Screamin won't break down again and be out the entire time.

Just about the time you think you "know" Disneyland, you get to take someone new and see it through their eyes. There's just nothing better.

I think you're smart to do the 4-Day. You already know the lines will be long and movement around the park a challenge. Attendance was expected to be up for the 50th, but it's 25% higher than expected. I know that's because they've spiffed it up so nicely that word is out the park is back and folks are wanting to experience it. By spreading it over four days, I think you can avoid burn-out by taking more "breaks."

Have a great time!
