I have watched this show many times and they have ALWAYS chosen a child to finally "pull the sword out" after all the other people (men, teenagers, etc.) have tried and failed. It's not a skill thing, it is rigged to only work when the kid tries it. This child who is chosen gets a crown to wear and keep.

Even when I was a kid, I never got chosen. But then again, I'm really quiet and reserved, so it was really easy to overlook me (which is still the case now). I wish I could be chosen, but now I'm all old.

I pulled the sword out when I was a young lad and never got to keep the crown. I got a certificate, commemorative medal, and picture with Merlin. Great memory though

I got picked when I was like five, but for some reason, I guess I was too scared to go up there, and now that I look back I think "What the heck was i doing??"

I got picked this year, I could not pull the sword out. I saw Merlin talking to a kid before the show. He was the kid he picked and he pulled the sword out after me. I am not sure but it seemed pre arranged to me. I could be wrong though.

I never got the chance as a kid, but always dreamed of it.

Currently when I see it, I get delusions of grandeur, and think they'll pick me... and I can actually do it at this age.

I keep thinking if I go there on a weekday at a random time, in the pouring rain, it'll just be me and my girlfriend. And ya know what? I bet my GF would get to pull it out *lol*

(Someday I'm so paying Merlin off)

How many people watch this anyway? I've stopped watching it because I know I'll never get picked. But I wonder if there aren't any children around if they'll pick whoever is there? Or what if kmoen is right and it's pre-arranged?

It usually starts kinda slow... maybe 10 people, then grows due to its location. Being in the center of Fantasyland, it gets everyone outside of the massive line at Peter Pan, then those that were on the other rides...walking traffic...

It usually has a decent sized crowd.
