Default The Spot In Front Of Space Mountain...

I finally got to the point to where this is starting to drive me crazy. Does anyone know the purpose of this area in front of SM? I always wonder why its there and what its purpose is. So if any of you know, please get back to me, thanks!

The spacepad on the roof of the HISTA building is not an actual helipad, but this scenic circle did serve a visual purpose during the Space Mountain Relaunch Ceremony of 2005.

Just decoration for space that doesn't really need to be used. It's the roof to the theater. The line used to be strictly on the right side of the upper level and there were tables to sit and eat at the cafe on the left side of the level. Now it's just line and it doesn't need that much space.

So it played apart in the re-opening ceremony did it? Do any of you have a pic of this area in use? I'm interested in seeing it.

yeah it almost seems like an area your not supposed to be on cause the lines do not go over it and they have you behind the chains in line away from it. But you can go and stand on it, waste of space for some paint on the ground really. they should have the line go over it or something. maybe some tables and or planters. Some benches would even be nice.

But...then you wouldn't see the spacepad if people were walking/sitting on it.

It just seems that something needs to happen there. At least once an hour or so. Something. LOL Would actually make better sense to have a charachter meet there and not down in the crowded enough sections of Tomorrowland. Then again what to do with the lines to get there cause the ramp is now 2 lines only 1 standby and 2 fastpass. The also to get them down from there. I hate that they took the speed ramps down. That would have answered it all. But no they had to remove them, why? Who knows.

^ I could be because the put the entrance for HISTA right there, did captain E.O have its entrance there? If so that may be a reason, but there'd still be room for an enterance even with the speed ramps. Possibly they wanted the line to start further back by the pizza port side at the top rather then the speed ramps. Plus, knowing how lines are, they'd be backed up past the speed ramps, so the ramps would probably be turned off 90% of the time. Also if they only have a few switchbacks, like three or four, in a row. And idk about you, but if they have like seven switchbacks in a row, like in the extra star tours queue, it gets a little crammed.

Speaking of Space Mt.

I sure wish they would move the Fastpass machines. That long hallway back to them gets so jammed up with people heading to and from the machines, people heading to standby, fastpass return, etc.

I think it would be much better if the machines were moved out to where the VMK booth is by Innoventions.

^thats eh.. well a bit too far. A great location would be near the Tall Space Mtn sign, but there is no room. If only they could make one hub in each land that has FP for all the rides in that land, that way, they wouldn't need as many CM's at each FP station, they'd only need one- or two depending on the ammount of FP's, but i don't think that'd be very probable. Since many people who don't go as often go directly to the ride, to see how long the line is, if its long they go straight to the fastpass to get one. If it were all in one place, or further from the ride, then it takes more time out of there day to get to the FP place. Right now i think SM's location is fine, once you get in the FP Area its not very crowded at all.

Your wish is my command. Here is Neil Armstrong and Mickey Mouse reddedicating Space Mountain just days before the true 50th Anniversary.

It almost looks like the landing deck for Star Wars.... maybe they accidentally put it there instead of in front of Star Tours.

Or it could be a target for terrorists. But why would they put that in Disneyland?
