Splash Mountain--What's Up With the Owl?
Do da do do, you're having a great ride on Splash Mountain with people you don't know because you took single-rder, but you are having a great time. Then, after the drop, at the end of the ride, you see that old owl. It's talking if you are lucky, but with the owl, a white board is next to it. And it's blank!
What's up with that? Everything else in Disneyland is so fine-tuned to detail. The Columbia, each bump on Indiana Jones, and all the minute details and "clean dust" in the Haunted Mansion. Why is the owl and board still there? Do they ever use it? The last time I went, the owl was talking, but no picture! How difficult is it to project a picture of the board? I mean, my newly-renovated school has holes and electrical plugs on the ceiling in EVERY classroom for LCD projectors. And these rides are supposed to be inspected everyday by cast members? So it wouldn't be able to just slip from their minds. And what are the Imagineers doing over in that green building right on the I-5? How can everything else in the whole park be detailed, but not this?!?  I just don't get it!  :~)

A worthy cause. It's always a disappointment after riding an entire ride masterpiece, and then you see a broken owl and it ruins the enitre ride. The last thing you remember is "aww, the owl's broken."

now you guys are talking about the one at the end of the ride or the one in the beggining? because there are two. yea of course i would love to see it work, ever since i went on the ride for the first time it wasnt working, and let me tell you that was a long time ago! or at least take out the projector part and leave the owl, hes cute. and if they took that part away people would not think they are missing something, if they are going there for the first time. so Dl people either get the projector to work or take out the screen! it is obious to the poll people want it back!!!!

Last time I went which was like 2 weeks ago, the board was gone but the owl was still there. Also, on the second lift hill in the beggining of the ride, the owl that sits there and blinks had a very strange scarf around his neck. I wonder why.

The owl is still there. he was put back so that it wasn't just a pole sticking up at least. It would be nice if they put his brother back and had them talk again with the picture being displayed. If they just use some current technology it wouldn't even be all that costly to do beyond what the AAs cost.

Last time Irode it the Owl was talking but no picture to go along with it. that only happened to me once out of the 10 times I rode it.

well as u know there are issues with rides theese days. Look at IJA. I think they don't use it because cm's have to inspect all of the pictures to make sure ppl don't give the finger or other bad stuff. I don't think they could check them fast enough and maybe that's why they don't use it.
