Unhappy Sleeping Beauty or Snow White?!

On my recent trip to WDW i visited an exhibit dedicated to Walt Disney's accomplishments and it showcased all of the Disney parks. As i went to the Anahiem DLR showcase that had a relplica of the castle it said that the castle was Snow Whites Castle, that Disneyland Paris's castle was Sleeping Beautys castle (In french). I was confused because i had always known DLR's castle as Sleeping Beauty's castle. However, it does make sense for it to be called Snow Whites' castle because of the Snow White Wishing Well that is adjacent to the castle. And because the Cinderella Castle in WDW has a Cinderella Wishing Well adjacent to the castle, i thought that this might have some relation....
In every book and every experience ive had , ive known this castle as sleeping beauty's but it does seem odd that there are two sleeping beauty's castles in two parks.
Which do you think it is?

It seems to me that I have always heard the castle referred to as Sleeping Beauty's castle too.

Maybe there is some duct tape down the middle - the back side is Sleeping Beauty and the front side is Snow White (because the well is in front).

Well, in reality, there are 3 Sleeping Beauty castles in 3 parks - DL, DLP, HKDL. There are also 2 Cinderella Castles in 2 parks - MK & TDL. TDL also has a Snow White wishing well adjacent to it's Cinderella Castle, so I don't think it's an odd thing at all.

I don't think the DL castle became the "Sleeping Beauty" castle until the walk-through was installed to promote the movie, which was released in 1959. I remember being excited to see the walk-through when it was "new". I've heard, though, that the queen from Snow White appears in one of the windows from time to time, though I've never seen it, which would lend more evidence to the claim that it's the Snow White Castle. There's a good (though brief) article about the castle somewhere on VF. (Search it out - the story of the gold plating is fun). The castle itself, the story says, incorporates effects from a number of world famous castles. It would be interesting to watch all three movies (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella) with photo in hand to see if the castle in a movie resembles the one in the park.

There was a micechat thread about this a while back, and in all reality the castle really is more geared towards snow white. Not only because of the wishing well but because the style of it is Bavarian not French. It was probably made with snow whtie in mind but it was given to sleeping beauty because Walt was promoting the movie that was about to come out.'

While there are 3 sleeping beauty's castles, there are 2 distinct ones with DLP's being different from DL and Hong Kong's and more in tune with a real sleeping beauty's castle. But then again there are like 3 castle possibilities from the movie with her father's castle, the prince's castle, and maleficent's castle. So we can have lots of them

I'm glad it's sleeping beauty's castle. I miss the walkthrough though. Without it I felt like they were shunning her to the side but recently they've included Aurora in a lot of things and gotten her name out there more. And I like Aurora better than snow white anyways =D

Cool SBC on opening day

In the opening day telecast it's referred to as Sleeping Beauty Castle. It's on the Disneyland USA DVD. So it's been Sleeping Beauty Castle since Disneyland opened. It may have been intended for Snow White originally but the decision to name it Sleeping Beauty Castle came before the parks opening. I don't know if what you saw was a reference to the original plans, or just a very serious error.

The Queen does appear in a window, however its not the window of the castle it is a window near the castle, over the snow white's scary adventures ride.

Why do only Sleepy Beauty and Cinderella have castles? I understand at the time the first two castles were built there was not much of a choice, but when the other three castle were built there were princesses to go around. It weird that Snow White being the first Disney Princess does not have a castle. To me it should be:
Disneyland Park -Sleeping Beauty
Magic Kingdom-Cinderella
Disneyland Paris-Belle/Beast
Tokyo Disneyland-any
Hong Kong Disneyland-Snow White

Tokyo and Hong Kong just chose to copy an existing castle's design to save time/money or whatnot and because the castles are well-known icons of sorts.

i wish that Disneyland's castle was Snow White's, but actually it is Sleeping Beauty's. The castle was originally intended to be called Snow White's Castle, but in order to promote the film Sleeping Beauty, the name changed.

there you go...it's all cleared up now.
