Default Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough - Almost?

I'm suprised no one has commented on the Mouseplanet article about construction walls at the SBW exit and the reported state of the dioramas.

Reviving Sleeping Beauty

Wednesday, June 4, 2008
David Koenig, staff writer, (Send an email)
Late last week, a construction wall appeared around the long-locked exit to the diorama inside Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Imagineers and construction workers were spotted entering and exiting the space, which was closed nearly seven years ago due to post-9/11 terrorist fears.

While the on-site Imagineers remained mum, some construction workers revealed that the work is to restore the Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough.

The challenge, as was encountered in bringing back the subs, lies in affordably restoring what was basically left to rot for the better part of a decade. The damage evidently was more than neglect. Entertainment Show Services reportedly abused the castle interior and demolished entire sections of the walkthrough so that elements for the “Remember” fireworks show could be installed.

No completion date has been announced, but considering the amount of work that needs to be done, don’t expect anything till the latter part of the year. Perhaps in time for the movie’s 50th anniversary on January 29?

If this is something that will come to pass, I will be there on opening day.... Sleeping Beauty is by far my favorite movie of all time. The beautiful art in that movie still has not been beaten tothis day. Not to mention my favorite villan is in the movie... haha.. Eleanor Audly- the greatest voice actress of all time....

Cool! I never got a chance to see those dioramas...and it never made sense to me when I was little that you couldn't actually go in the castle. I'm excited!

I truly hope that this is true... I miss walking through it and seeing the dioramas and reading the excerpts from the story to accompany them. It truly was fun and kinda nice to do in the summer too. It got you out of the heat for a little.

I am totally looking forward to seeing the SBW revived. It's so sad to think of some of the scenes being destroyed! My kids and I went in August 2000, and I took quite a few pictures in the walk through. Unfortunately it was in my pre-digital days, LOL. I'll find the pics and scan them in in the next few days.

I saw the construction walls when we were at Disneyland today! I sure hope they are restoring the Sleeping Beauty walk through. I loved going through it and really miss it.

I'm happy about this... I love Sleeping Beauty and the walkthrough in Paris was amazing. I don't expect anything on that scale inside the Anaheim castle, but even if they followed some of the ques - like tapestries, props, etc. - it will be amazing. It would probably be the #1 I'd look forward to on my next trip.

I'm excited about this news. On the other hand, I don't know if it would be worth the effort to bring it back. It wasn't the most advanced of displays, and it always seemed a little dated to me. It will be nice to see it another time though.

Keep in mind that this will most likely be the same one they had pre-9/11. It's just some dioramas of sleeping beauty scenes. Don't get me wrong, it's still cute (I've seen pictures), just don't get your expectations up too high. It isn't nearly as detailed as the DLP version.

Nice.. Thanks for the update Alex. I like how at the end it says this:

quote - Mice Age’s Dateline Disneyland columnist Andy Castro reported that the 50th anniversary “Sleeping Beauty” DVD, due out in October 2008, will include a computer-animated re-creation of the Anaheim theme park’s castle walk-through.

Now that would be really awesome if they do have that on there.
