Thumbs down Will people buy it?

When it comes to marketing, the only question is Will people buy it? Think of all the AP holders with kids this thing will occupy on repeat visits. If there's a little less in Anaheim than Orlando, some trivia and entertaining filler can round things out. I think lots of people will buy it.

I don't think the total numbers at each resort are that far off either. I did a quick count of each resort and I came up to around 87 attractions and shows for the DLR and around 100 for WDW (about 120, if you count the street performances at World Showcase).

So yeah, while WDW does beat DLR in that regard, is that enough of a difference to really argue that the DLR shouldn't have Pal Mickey because of lack of attractions and shows? I personally don't care either way. It's not something I really need.

Yea, while Disneyland has enough attractions and secrets to warrant it...

keep in mind that unlike WDW, Disneyland has a lot of repeat visitors, who probably wouldnt wan't/need PAL mickey.

But a big reason to buy it especially for repeat visitors would be short wait times and such. Repeat visitors have been enough that they don't need to do every ride every time they go. To make up for "lack" of attractions they can put more rides in for low wait times. They could also make it cheaper or add Downtown Disney with fun facts and the Disney Hotels.

Yeah. Pal Mickey would be good at DLR, as long as it also works at WDW. I think it would be valuable as this resort continues to grow. The wait time feature would be important on all those mountains. It would also be cool if when you pass a relic of a past attraction, like the Nature's Wonderland tunnels and train and the heads in Winnie the Pooh, it would tell you to look for them. Give you a mini Disneyland history lesson.

I'd have to include myself there. I'd probably get quite a few 's if I had to tell people that I needed a stuffed Mickey to prevent me from missing stuff or getting lost.

I think Disneyland doesnt have enough attractions or shows for a Pal Mickey. Disneyworld has 4 parks plus more attractions and shows. Pal Mickey is much more useful there then at Disneyland because the park is bigger with more attractions and shows and different people go there every year. A lot of the same people go to Disneyland every year because it is much cheaper.

^ Could also have something to do with the fact that DLR is within an hour's drive of about 30,000,000 people. That being said, WDW has it's share of AP's, but with a larger overall capacity, it's a lot easier for them to just blend in with the one-a-year vacationers.

Agreed. Let's continue this discussion of PAL MICKEY at Disneyland in the Disneyland Park forum.

Thread moved.

Now as for the topic at hand, while Disneyland may not be as big as WDW, I still see countless people that look lost out of thier minds at the park. Something like that could be a great tool for people new to the park.

I agree! I would definitely buy a Pal Mickey in a split second if he worked at both DLR and WDW. Not that I'll ever go to WDW, but *if* I ever did, it'd be really helpful. I kinda wish they had different characters though. I want a Pal Stitch!

Well, you should only count the big rides for the resorts. PalMickey tells you the line times for only the big rides...obviuosly he won't say, "Hey, Snow White is only 5 seconds!". So when you count all the big rides, WDW is ahead AND with the shows it pulls ahead even more!

I agree too. If PalMickey works at both places, then it would definitely be worth buying. It's like getting 2 for one (ie 2fer lol)

According to Wikipedia, it's $50. To rent it I think it's somewhere around either $5 or $10 with a $50 deposit. So it's a pretty good value for all you get. I think I'll get one this year. Oh, and if you're an AP the you can go into a store where they sell PM and if you show the CMs your AP then you get a free shirt for you Mickey.

Fair enough... I counted again, but this time just the major line-producing attractions and the major shows and parades at each resort. I got around 30 at the DLR and around 40 at WDW (again, give or take a couple). That still doesn't seem like a big enough difference to me to argue that.

DLR has far more history than WDW. So why not use it as sort of a tour guide that can give facts and stuff. Like when you walk under SBC, It could say if you look down there is a golden spike that walt disney put to mark the center of the park.
