Smile Shooting Stars at Disneyland

So I was at Disneyland this past weekend with my family, and on Saturday, june 14th, I decided to go on one last ride just before closing. So while in line for Peter Pan, at about 11:55 pm, I looked up at the little bit of sky that is visible from the first few switchbacks of the queue, and I see a fantastic shooting star - it was greenish white with a visible orange trail.

At first I thought it was a firework that for some reason went off, and then I thought maybe it was a new thing Disney was doing - shooting off fake shooting stars before closing - but no! I checked the fireball meteor page at the American Meteor Society site (can't post link, but google it) and sure enough, there are a lot of sightings of a bright fireball meteor right around 11:55 seen from southern CA! It was amazing. I sent my report in to that site today, so it may show up eventually.

Then, after the park had closed, I was taking some pictures of the castle, and I saw another shooting star just above the castle to the left, not nearly as bright, but still cool. A few other people with me saw the second one as well.

Anyways, it was a great way to end my last day at Disneyland (until the next trip)!

(btw first post! )

Congrats on your first post, and congrats on doing something I could not: staying in the park until closing. Regardless, I think that's really neat.

Oh PLEASE tell me you wished upon it! That would be the most magical of all!! (Since you can't see, pretend I'm holding up my hands in Snow White fashion and talking in her ever-cute voice)

What an amazing memory! Hope they weren't flying too low, we wouldn't want one to take out a turret or two of the castle, no would we???

Of course, I'd like to send a few meteors myself to the cursed Pan... scurvy brat...

I apoplogize for my random characterization! It's really late!

But thanks for the story! Really cool memory!

I saw it also. It was one of the best shooting stars I've ever seen.
