Thumbs up Ride CM's need new training...

Last night I went on BTMRR and I went to the wrong seat... ( I know I shouldn't) but I didn't know it was reserved for someone else... so I went to sit there... but the CM told (actually yelled) me " GET BACK TO YOUR SEAT!" And while I was getting my backpack out of the pouch, she made a gesture to the guests who were supposed to sit there... It was like putting 2 hands up saying "What the?" I was very offended and thought CM's were supposed to be polite... not like teachers treating me like a schoolkid... I was very hurt by this CM...

Did anyone else have any simliar experiences?

very few cms dare say anything to me in a offensive tone. nobody does for that matter. do you want to offend a manof my size and appearance? a lady was actually pushing my wife before the fireworks... we found a completely vacant pace in front of the castle... then this woman moves in with her family... claiming that she had reserved this spot... I asked who had reserved it... she and her family had all gone to look at something down main street! and now she was pushing my wife and making offending comments about how mexicans need to go home. i calmy informed her that denisa is from argentina and is a legal resident. she didnt calm down. a cm nearby came over and told the lady to chill out. the lady said "but somebody is already in this space!!" the cm replied "Yes, and its a 6'5", 270 lb man... and you were just shoving his 5'3" wife!" when the lady calmed down, the cm said... I would never think of getting in your face even if you were wrong. it was jokingly said and the cm had doen something very courageous for us. I was very pleased.
but I have encountered agry and rude cms. on alice in wonderland. the guys who were seating us seated me and my brother both in front.. the caterpillar started to move.. and this girl cm screams at us, the other cms, stops the ride, yells some more and makes me move. i guess there is some certain way to seat on that ride. I had only sat where the guys had said and their parter freaked out and made a scene. very unprofessional

BTMRR is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Anyway, I have had a rude cm experience on the matterhorn. It was early in the morning and I was in the park by myself. I hopped in line for the Matterhorn and when the lady asked "how many in your group" I said 1. She looked at me like I was stupid and said "you aren't with anyone else?" I said "no, I'm by myself." Then when she told me what row to go to her tone was very rude.

BTMRR has been the ONLY ride I've seen that breaks my "magical" experience.

It was in 2005 when two of my friends and I went on the ride after standing in the hot sun for about an hour and a half.

We got up to the spot where the CM's place you in different lines and I was closest to an operating CM. She was standing there talking with other people (that she knew) and was complaining about her hours and how much management "Sucks uhh... Oscar Meyer" Of course, she said the whole thing in front of myself and KIDS.

I was disgusted and had never heard any CM break character and act the way she did.

Only @ BTMRR!

I rarely come across rude CM's even at BTRR. I understand that they handle a lot of guest each day and things can get pretty stressed out.

Well BTMRR probably does have mean CM 's, one reason may because they get a lot of smoke that blows through after Fantasmic. We went on right when it ended and we couldn't even see what was in front of us. The cast members where really REALLY unhappy.

^^^ Me neither. I've never had any problems at BTMRR. I actually had a nice conversation with a CM there once. They always let me and my friends sit in the back- EVERY SINGLE TIME. Hopefully they won't be rude next time I go.

I'm a BTMRR CM and in our deffence, you should have stayed in your assighned seat. The safety of the guest comes before being curtious. Us CMs know what we are doing and what you did was rude to the people at guest assistance and to the CMs. In additoin, it was not safe for you. The gap between the train and the gates are very small. Not to mention that what you did was stressful. Due to the fact that we are in the off-season we only have one side of the station open and 3 trains on the track. Which means we have 73 secionds to send the train or we back up. We need new training?!? BTM training is 5 days. 2 days are at 5 in the morning and one day ends at 1 in the morning. At the end of each day, we have to take a M.C. test. On the last day, we have to take a 100 question M.C. test AND a 2 and a half hour physical performance test. AND BTM CMs have all worked at DL for at least 6 months and must have a clean record in order to get trainied over there. If DLR is considered the best in attraction opperations, then BTM is the best of the best. Just becuase you can't see what you did wasn't smart you have to point the blame on somone else. The reason you were treated like a school kid was becasue you didn't follow simple directions of where to sit. Think something through before you make a comment like that.

In addition SPACE, in the battle of the mountians BTM has surpassed SM in the four keys. In fact, BTM is the highest ranking mountian in DL. Our past mystery guest scores have been 95% and higher and the only thing thats keeping us from 100% is only theme frasing. Unlike space, BTM is more manual than computer operated, we break down a lot easier.

Almost every CM I have run into in all my years going to DL had an attitude. These guys act like they are doing us a favor. Now there have been only a handful of CMs that have been respectful, the older ones. When that happens, I let their supervisors know how great of a job they are doing since it is so rare. But normally, I just expect them to be rude since this is the norm for the younger CMs. I have seen them snap at little children and if the parents did not say anything, I did to their superiors, but it never helps. The older and more mature CMs are the ones who are...well...mature and more professional. This is just my personal experience and I am sure I am not speaking for all CMs. They just need to learn how to do their jobs with the respect of the guests in mind, that's all. Happiest place on earth huh? Maybe WITHOUT younger CMs.

I was an aircraft maintenance inspector and firefighter in the military. There is nothing I don't know about safety training, since I was also an instructor. There is ALWAYS a way to be courteous while keeping people safe. I have seen a CM's notion of keeping people safe. Most are just rude and want to flex what little power they have instead of being polite. Actually, it is much easier to get people to work with you when you ARE courteous. CMs are not in hostile enemy territories, so CMs have no excuse unless it is absolutely life threatening.

Yeah, it's pretty nonproductive here. But before it's closed I want to add my two cents.

I've been going to Disneyland for 51 years now. I know there have been corporate/employee problems, crowd control problems, environmental problems (like the visit July 2005 when it was 95 degrees, 90% humidity and no AC in Pieces of Eight where the CM was in neck-to-toe 19th century wool dress). In all those years and all those CM encounters, I've only had one CM get short with me. It was a tram operator who was entrusted with the job of getting my mom's wheelchair (with mom in it) unbuckled and her off the tram in time to not be in the way of the next tram. What I knew (and he didn't notice) was that the rest of that seating area was filled with very excited mentally disabled adults who were anxious to get off that tram and into the park! As soon as the tram stopped I got up to move out of the way of the other passengers thinking that they could get off the tram first, then it would be easier to deal with the wheelchair (believe me, they were on their way off whether I was out of the way or not). I ended up standing in the wrong place when the CM started with the chair, so he ordered me back. I didn't move (the disabled adults were already standing and starting to push forward) so he explained sharply that I would have to return to my seat so that he could deal with the chair. I looked him in the eye and said calmly, "I understand." At that point he looked into the tram, realized what was happening, calmed down and let the others off. I moved to where he wanted me and we got Mom off safely and on time.

I want you all to know that at the scavenger hunt yesterday we didn't meet one single CM with an attitude except for a "let's all have fun at Disneyland" attitude. I wish I had collected their names! What a pleasure they made that day. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I have to believe that a smile and an attitude of cooperation gets me that kind of treatment back every time.

dude, you guys need to seriously chill out. you dont understand how hard they work. having to deal with people on a most likely 8-12 hour shift. and who knows, maybe they were having a bad day because someone in their family just died or something else bad was happening. so not only do they have to be nice to you, but you shold also be nice to them. i know someone who worked there who onced got slapped for no reason. so cm's do the best they can and maybe you should have taken other factors into concideration. and also if you dont go to your right seat, maybe you are the one at fault and should have gone to the right seat, becasue that screws up everything.
