Default Park was DEAD today! SO nice! Park changes... (5-1-06)

I visted Disneyland today and it was extremely slow at the park. I was just there LAST Monday, when it was about 10x busier.

Today there was NO Remember...Dreams Come True fireworks as there has been during the week for the past few weeks, no Aladin and Jasmins Storytelling, at 1:30, Space Mountain had a 10 minute wait...it was more like 5 minutes, as you just walked right into the loading zone. Indiana Jones said 20 minutes, but was more like 10, and thats just because it takes 10 minutes to walk from the entrance to the ride loading area. Even the man at the front was telling people "Dont get a fast pass! The wait is like 10 minutes!" Haunted Mansion was a walk on ride, the only ride that WAS actually the wait time it said it was was Splash Mountain, with a 25 minute wait.

At California Adventure, Soarin was walk on, California Screamin was 5 minutes, GRR was straight to the loading queue.

It was so nice having the park NOT be crowded as it has been so much lately. When I was there last Monday ever ride had like a 45 minute wait. Splash mountain was at 75 minutes a week ago.

ALSO, some changes: The Golden Dreams is no longer being refurbished.

Pieces of Eight shop in NOS is closed. There is a sign directing you down a pathway to the Christmas shop, which has been turned into a shop called "TREASURES," and has all the pirate murchandise.

The Columbia had a tarp over the back, looked like they were doing some painting.

The sub lagoon is almost 100% free of water.

EDIT: OH YEAH, they had some man dressed up as a Pirate in front of POTC telling everyone when the attraction was opening, what they were doing, etc. He was just saying they are adding elements from the movies.

And thats about it!

-Kyle

Paintings? I hope they aren't ruining the ship for promotion.

I heard that they were transforming it to the black perl for the premiere. Just a rumor. I dont think they would paint it to early though.

Man...Now you've made me want to take another trip down to Disneyland! I was just there last Tuesday and I actually thought it was nice. The longest wait time at Disneyland was about 20 minutes for Space Mountain and 30 minutes for Soarin'. But I'd love to go when it's empty because I'm not a very patient person (obviously me + long lines = not good).

Spring break is over, summer season hasn't started yet?

EXCELLENT news! I'm planning two or three weekday trips in the next three weeks hoping to enjoy a few more days before my summer blockouts. Sounds like MAYBE it won't be too bad. Of course, once the midwest schools are out in May, it will start to fill up again. Guess I'd better hurry!

Pretty much because spring break is over. And today is the start of Advanced Placement exams, in which nearly all high schools across the nation administer. (And missing that exam = $82+ bucks down the drain)
I believe DLR usually has a high student attendance, but since every student was being tortured through exams today...no wonder.

I wish I were there at the parks during its slow season. But that doesn't happen, seeing as how I usually go to DLR during the holidays and summer.

There are several rumors that 'soft openings' will begin on June 5th.

Wow, sounds nice to have it so empty. How long were Matterhorn waits? I'd ride like 20x in a row lol.
