Official Pirate's Lair at Tom Sawyer Island Thread

Disney has set its sights on another marketing endeavor. The victim this time is Tom Sawyer island. Accoarding to Al Lutz next may Tom Sawyer Island will be changed to a Pirates of the Carribean themed Island. Thats right the 50 year old landmark might be lost because people seem to care about Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones then Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.

Not to mention how the theming will be thrown off. A tropical island in the middle of the American wilderness?

I really hope this does not happen. If this happens I may never again step foot inside that park. Here again this is a rumor and I really hope it stays that way. Besides don't they have enough to do with the pirates as it is now? There is the ride, the whatever you want to call it show just outside it, the Blue Bayou's menu even and the Columbia now has a pirate on it. Do we really need more?

Yeah, I hope they think this through first...just like with pirates the ride, Im a bit torn on this is issue. Im all about evolving and changing and getting new things but how is a pirate themed island going to fit into the already small themed frontierland. Ok, now I know rivers of america actually fall into like 3 different lands but techanically it's theme is more geared towards frontierland. Since there is barely anything in frontierland, I think it'd be sad to get rid of it and re-theme it. What about the indians, and "wildlife" you see when you take the mark twain? will they get rid of those too? and mark twain itself? will they re-theme that too because then what will Mark twain be without tom sawyers island? hmmmm, I do like the idea of all new ideas and experiences but Im also nostalgic and sentimental and I'd be sad to see yet another part of Walt's original dream and work get "re-themed". we'll see how this all transpires.

if this were a vote, i would say NO! what would the kids do? its really for them, and since they dont really understand POTC (or even watch them with the PG-13 rating.) also, what does POTC have to do with fronteirland? that is not the fronteir.

TMZ reports that tom sawyer will go "under the wrecking ball" to replace it with the theme of POTC...do believe me...look at it yourself....

What I do not get is why Disney would want to do something like this. It may be good for buesness but it will not be good for the theme. It seems like New Orleans Square will have to be expanded if this does happen. Hopefully this will not happen. Plus, Disney has to worry about POTC's new 2007 refurbishment.
