I was talking to the driver yesterday about the new monorails he was telling me that mark7 only runs in the mornings till like 10 then again at night around 6 or 7 because of the heat and that they were only puting 15 to car,and that they wont be fully operating until the end of summer and once they are running they will take purple apart to build orange because some parts are not easy to replicate, me and the driver both agreed that they should take the windows that are on the monorails now and put them on the new mark7 he was saying that it will cost more to repair then it did to build all 3 new monorails and that the reason why all the cars dont have AC is because their is not enough power unlike WDW where all the trains have AC

You would think that they could figure out how to ramp up the power to overcome this problem. Nothing like getting a shiny new toy on christmas morning only to find that it was broke at the factory!

I didn't think the WDW monorails had AC, maybe they do idk. But because there are so many more monorails, and the track is so much longer they have to bump up the electric, so it reaches all across the park. Now at DLR all the power is fed through the monorail shop, then sent to the rails. Now i'm not sure where the electric comes up onto the track, but I think its only at one spot. And i Think its near the switch. That way if they have a power problem, the maintenance people can fix it easily by just going to one spot, instead of going to dozens of different spots. Now because of WDW's monorail size, they may feed power onto three or four different locations. Im not sure how it all works out over there, but I don't think its a power problem, I think its more of a space problem, Air conditioners are big and bulky, if there small, then they usually don't have much kick, and the doors opening and closing every few minutes, would screw it up. And it'd be pointless.
And I know the parts are somewhat unique to the monorail, but didn't the monorails get all new different parts? What good would an old monorail do?

I'm positive the monorails at WDW have air conditioning. It is always considerably cool in the monorails during warm weather. Almost everything at WDW has/needs air conditioning because of the terribly hot and muggy weather. Plus, since the WDW monorail doesn't stop and start as often, it can probably keep pretty cool without the doors opening every two minutes.

If I'm correct, someone once said that Monorail Blue is out testing after hours. Does (or can) anyone take pictures?

I got to ride it last night! I didn't pay much attention to A/C stuff but I can say that it does seem to move faster and maybe tilt a little more. It was, of course, eentelesting to hear "You're riding a Mark VII Monorail" instead of "You're riding a Mark V Monorail"

^I guess not. I expected the seats to be hard, but was it really that noisy?

You betcha. Ear splitting. The acoustics were horrible for such a small space.

I do not recommend Bubblenose.

Ear splitting eh? I'm not doubting you, but if it really was ear splitting someone else may have commented about that. Perhaps they were adjusting it.

Keep in mind that the WDW Monorails are Mark VI monorails, which are an advanced design of the Mark IV monorails. Neither version of those Disney Monorails ever saw Disneyland or were intended to be a ride like Disneyland's monorail is.

WDW's Monorails from Day 1 were meant to be in-Resort transportation. Ergo, those versions of the monorail were designed to include things like greater capacity than Disneyland's monorails and A/C in every cabin. People view using the monorails as a perk for spending hilariously high amounts of money per night to stay in the Deluxe Resorts - the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Grand Polynesian. There are stark contrasts in intent with the useage of monorails between Disneyland & WDW, and thus you see stark contrasts in design, features and ultimately costs.

I'm keeping my eyes & ears out. If I can, I'll try to snap the best pictures I can. Capturing a dark blue monorail against a dark night sky might be a considerable challenge for my humble Canon.

Um, well, ok, but you may as well abandon the parking lot trams while you're at it. They have those same basic attributes.

I did notice the Mark VII's traded some seat cushion for increased mobility. The bench seating is very much akin to the bench seating in the trams, but with very nice lighting and the aforementioned improvement in mobility.

BCC, I hope you give the Mark VII's at least one more chance before you declare it not worth your time. You might find improvements in subsequent rides, who knows.

Possibly, but my first ride was not very pleasant...

Well, at least on the parking trams the sound gets to go somewhere.

But in the monorail, the sound has little room to escape, so it bounces around everywhere.
