Default The Official Monorail Mark VII Thread

January 2006- Burke Design provided composite engineering services during the design phase of an updated monorail for the Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, CA. Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) contracted TPI Composites of Warren, RI to engineer and manufacture the monorail's new composite nose and tail sections. In our consulting role to TPI, and working closely with WDI, we provided the composite laminates for Finite Element Analysis (FEA), prepared the manufacturing plan, construction drawings and part weight estimates, and participated in the material testing program. Construction of the tooling is now underway, with the fabrication and assembly of the nose and tail sections scheduled to be complete in the third quarter of 2006.The "Bubble-Tops" will not be added due to the low clearances around the park.

I don't know if this is a rumor or not, if it's not a rumor, please move this.

Sad news about the bubble tops, if it's true. Hopefully the design will be different enough without them.

I like! Nice homage to the older models, but still futuristic as well.

I hope they are still different colors, "Monorail Red, Blue, Purple, ect...)

I also found that the Monorail closes on 11/1/2006 and opens 5/1/2007: http://www.mickeynews.com/Parks/Disn...rbSchedule.asp

Wow, it's closing a lot longer from now than I thought. It'll be running in shuttle mode for a long time then. Btw, simmer, you're welcome for that link.

You and DaddyB!

I wonder if it has anything to do with Finding Nemo (Opening Sping 2007)?

The Company above just removed the above post from their website!

It doesn't take long for people to notice something you put up on a website. This could easily be one of those deals where once they know that we know, BAM! it's gone. Their hope would then be that we stop believing or forget that this existed. Well it did exist, MiceChat found it first, I found it off them, simmer put it up here & so it grew. Companies get very nervous when this happens, even though they put it up on their website, they probably didn't want this blasted all over, so it's gone. Well let's just continue to keep our eyes & ears open for the next one.

oopsies....darn, would have liked to have seen it before they took it away.

Once again being denied futuristic transportation systems...even from looking at them. Those of you in cities that are more transportationally-gifted, appreciate them, cause you could be like Los Angeles, where our busses are literally made to look like trains because somehow they think that we'll be fooled into beliveing that they are actually better than the smog-belching, road-clogging, accident-causing behemoths they really are.

The rail system in Los Angeles is (compared to other cities) a joke. "Here's what not to do..."

L.A. denied Alweg from constructing a 43-mile futuristic monorail system in the 60s. Instead they dismantled the Pacific Electric Red Cars (the largest mass transit system ever at that time) and bought our busses and built our freeways.

What might have been...

...the horror...the horror...

whoops, rant, sorry bout that, but I'm very passionate about this, lol.

I don't understand why a company would care if people knew about the project or not.

I think it is time for a change in the Monorail trains. Even though I will miss the trains of right now, it's time for a change for the future.

I hope they don't look like the ones in Las Vegas. They are nice and all, but they don't have the classy look Disneyland's do or did. If that is the concept art, I am all for it. The picture looks great. Keep the streamline feel and look.
