The wishing well, snow white area is pretty quiet most of the time. Especially at night. The King Triton area by Buzz is usually fairly quiet too.

Courtyard of Angels.
There's nothing like going there on a slow day, when there's nobody there, and watching Ernie playing the guitar. He's a masterful player, and just "belongs" there. I understand that he's also one of the last cast members that was personally hired by Walt who still works in the parks. You can tell he's been around since the parks had more class... He's an example of that personality that has been gone for a while. I'll be spending some time watching him on my next vacation. He's such a great player, and has the nicest smile. I watch him play, and just wonder how many people he has seen walk by, how many smiles he's seen, how many different changes he's been through in Disneyland and the USA, and it just kind of blows me away that here's this nice, quiet, and seemingly very satisfied guy just playing away. I think that there are a couple of different kinds of people. Those who understand that stuff, and those who don't. I never understood people who could just blow right by Ernie, not even noticing him. When I hear that guitar, I don't have a choice: I stop immediately, and am transfixed by his playing. It's amazing. I am far more impressed by him than I am by loud, crazy, in-your-face Disney productions. If anyone knows if I can get an album by him, please do tell me. Thanks. |

Like you, Mighty Unicorn, I'd say the Court of Angels in New Orleans Square is pretty secluded. It's so incredible to just take a few moments and wander around New Orleans Square. Hardly any average tourist nows how far back the alley-ways go. To many, New Orleans Square is just Pirates and the Haunted Mansion. But it's many alleyways and small shops, and incredibly detailed atmosphere make it oh-so much more. It's one of my favorite things to just walk under the lace-iron balconies, smell the flowers or the drifting scent of gumbo, take a gander at the artist carts, and stand a while in the Court of Angels.
question--- how far up the stairs in the Court of Angels are guests allowed to walk? There isn't a restricted area sign, or so I remember... Also, the Snow White Wishing Well is pretty private (a relative term at Disneyland

Hi everyone;
This is an intresting thread. I had never heard the name Courtyard of Angels. Is this a nickname or official? I too like NOS, but you guys mentioning it have made me want to spend more time there on my next visit. As an aside, I went to the real NO in 2003 for my first time, and walking around I laughed to myself as I thought, "This looks so much like Disneyland's New Orleans Square!" |

The benches in front of the Main Street USA Disneyland Railroad Station after closing.
I must go to the Courtyard of the Angels at the wrong time. There's always someone having their picture take on the stairs, either me or someone else! And, of course, there is that door above the stairs where castmembers come out of! I love being there and suddenly some musicians come out of the door. I just follow them! I don't think it's as private as it may seem there. Does part of Club 33 look down onto it?

For those of you unaware of the Court of Angels, it can be located by simply turning left once you exit Pirates of the Caribbean, walk past Club 33 and the Blue Bayou, and continue walking on. Eventually you'll pass under a brick archway, and after that is the Court of Angels. It is a somewhat-circular area with a large sweeping staircase. It also has many gorgeous flowers growing, and is decorated beautifully during the holidays.
And M Barr, the name is officially the Court of Angels! A sign hanging from the walls of the Court titles it as such--- Court des Anges. I hope next time you're at the parks you'll take a moment to explore New Orleans Square a bit more than usual! It's very exciting, and a nice break from an eventful day! http://davelandweb.com/neworleanssquare/#courtofangels The site above provides photos of the Court of Angels. (Thanks daveland! the site is amazing!) Hope I've helped!
