Mark Twain

I think I may have read this on one of the threads but I can't find it. I just want to know how you can get to ride with the "driver" of the Mark Twain. I'm taking my cousin for his 9th birthday this Saturday and I would like to see if he can ride with the driver. Do I just let the CM at the loading dock know?

Yes, just talk to a CM and they will notify the Captain. Get there early so you don;t lose it to someone else.

Let me clarify, you can ride the MT anytime during the day but you want to get there just after the MT pulls away from the dock, so you are the first one in line for the next cruise.

Oh ok. How long does it take MT to go around ROA?

The trip is about 13 minutes and then you have unload/load time on top that.

yes you can, but get there early. It is truly a great experience.

And I heard they give you a certificate after you pilot the MT?

Yes you can ride with the Captain. If you are really lucky you don't even have to ask. My six year old brother was riding it and standing near the captains deck. The captain came out and asked him if he wanted to drive. He got in and started driving. Then they gave him a certificate.

We did it a few times like this:

As soon as we boarded I went all the way up to just below the captain's place. I looked up and got his attention and said ".....yeah the Mark Twain is our FAVORITE ride...it's the first ride we came to today...please please let us come up". Just little stuff like that...but you have to get up there right away before someone has already been let in.

The times we went, they gave us each a certificate, a "Pilot's License" signed by Walt Disney. I heard they don't give them anymore...don't know.
We also signed a log book.
