Default Indiana Jones Adventure Fun Facts

I just had an interesting little story I thought I could share with

My family and I went to Disneyland on October third. We did our usual routine that gets us on around 25 rides with time to spare at the end of the day. It was around 3:30 maybe and we got our fastpasses for Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. We came back at the time the fastpass said and the ride was closed. We came back later and a CM working at the attraction informed us the ride had just re-opened. We then went through the fastpass line and got on the ride. The wait was taking quite a long time (even with the fastpasses) so I decided to "kill" some time by telling my party how the lights flicker in the que when the ride is operating and when the ride is shut down, the lights stop flickering and function as any normal household light would. FINALLY we got to the loading station and got on the ride. Once on the ride I immidiately noticed something was wrong. First off we got the Chamber of Destiny (I think that is what the center one is called) and I was bummed out because I like the chamber of eternal youth, but that is not what was wrong here.. , the lights that shine on the miny maras on top of every door did not light up! I thought that was quite strange. Once in the chamber the Mara head barely even lit up. There was a very dim yellow-orange light on it, and there was no special effects like the smoke or anything. The next thing wrong with the ride was the chamber of bubbling death, there was no laser coming out of the eye and also no fire. The last thing to go wrong was before you turn into the station, there was no special lighting on the Indiana Jones standing next to the boulder, just a white light. I was thinking: that was a strange ride! This is when the story gets fun. We were walking out the exit que and you would never beleive what happened, the lights stopped flickering! I then made a bet that the CMs would be announcing the ride was closed just around the time we got out. You can finish the rest of the story on your own! (In case you can't, here it is: we walked out, the CMs were announcing the ride was closed, and yours truly just got 10 bucks wealthier)

I hope you enjoyed my little story :D

Indy is truly starting to show age. when I went in the tunnel with the three doors, the middle was WIDE OPEN! the snake could also have some more movement, I mean it's okay, but....

I know, it is usually closed around 3 to 4 times a day whenever I go! But that is pretty funny that it was wide open, was the hole system off? or just that door? The only thing in my mind that is wrong with the snake is its positioning. It is directly to the left of the car when the animitronics start and then the everyone in the car has to turn to see it except for the people in the back.

They are changing some small things however... for instance the first Indy Audio-Animitronic has changed positions in holding the door closed...

I'm not sure if the system was off, but everything seemed to work out fine except for that door and a laser not shooting in the room with the bridge.

Thumbs down The Lead Electrician

Not long after the ride opened, I was gawking around like a total freak, just loving the line for the ride. I got into a conversation with a guy who was in line with his family, and he told me that he was the lead electrician on the entire project!!!

He was looking around as awestruck as I was, though. I thought that was pretty interesting. He was saying that it was an absolutely incredible job to work on, the toughest he had ever been involved in.

I said to him, "WOW! You must have free passes to the park for LIFE!!!!"...

He looked at me like I was incredibly naive (I was), and he said, "They didn't even give me a one-day pass... but the pay was just fine, believe me".

How cool is that?

:)

^ Cool! I would love to design something like that! Someday

You know how Mara's eyes flash in the first room? They should make that WAY brighter!

I have had the exact same thing happen to me, no lights on the destiny's, and no laser. I am always depressed when I ride Indy like this.

Those lights don't flicker because if there is any emergency, or anything like that they want the lights on full the whole time. Also when the first open up the attraction after it was closed they don't always have all the effects going. When they close it down they just have work lights on, they probably shut off the Gas for the fire (for safety reasons).

Same deal happens on space mountain. Not all of the effects turn on right away, and sometimes the lights are still on, because Cast Members are monitoring things making sure everything is running correctly. (not just the effects) And if they still had CM's monitoring the ride, they wouldn't turn the flames on, or some of the other effects.

that is EXTREMELY cool! If I was waiting in line with someone like that I would ask him so many questions it would drive him insane! Seeing as how long Disneyland has been around, I sure do beleive the pay was fine :D. Disneysea, was the ride closed when you got off? And ryguy, what do you mean "Those lights don't flicker because if there is any emergency"? The lights always flicker when waiting in line, and stop flickering when it has shut down... or at least that is happened with me, correct me if you know of any other cases

^I doubt they would do that, since it's one of the most popular, and crowded rides in the park. If they closed it down, all the other rides would have to pick up the slack, and that would not go over too well.

Plus Mara would rain down fiery evil upon Disney for closing it.

If they want to save some dough on operating costs, they just need to do a refurb, but take there sweet time.

As for why the ride shuts down every so often during the day, I was talking to a CM, on my last trip, asking why it shuts down a few times during the day and she said that its because the ride gets over heated and backed up and it needs time to catch up, cool down and process things. So I was like ohhhh and she said that they usually only close it for 30 min max. It makes sense to me. :)

I could start a rumor that it will be replaced with Prince of Persia attraction.

I could, but I won't.

Haha, careful Ezra, that could be dangerously fatal to the diehard Indy fans.

^IT CAN AND WOULD!!!!!!

Overheating can almost always be prevented, they just need better cooling systems. Or they need to swap out vehicles on occasion to cool off.
