Exclamation high altitude winds = Remember... Dreams Come True CANCELLED

Since the 50th anniversary, I have been to Disneyland Park many times. On one of these occasions over the summer, my friends and I sat in front of the castle for 3 hours just to get a good spot to see the 50th Anniversary fireworks. We had to battle tourists that tried to take our spot, and the unusual Disney cast member that worked the daytime shift and was out for the day that yelled at us for trying to keep our spot. Her replies were "THERE WILL BE LOTS OF ROOM WHEN YOU GUYS STAND UP." My friends and I are all around 5' 4" / 125 pounds, meaning we didn't take up much room just sitting down on the floor. She really pissed me off. She didn't act like she worked at Disneyland at all (it must have been a lie just so we wouldn't argue. What a meany.) But anyways, after waiting there for what seemed like forever, the announcer finally came on and said that the fireworks show may be cancelled due to high altitude winds. Well okay, we waited around just incase they would change there minds. BIG MISTAKE. We were infuriated when it was for sure cancelled. We made a pact we would return to Disneyland when our winter break started. Last Monday, December 19, 2005, my friends and I returned to the park. We had never been there during Christmas time so we were in awe of the wonderful decorations. Again we decided to wait 3 hours in our usual spot for the Remember... Dreams Come True show. Well just our luck, THE FIREWORKS WERE CANCELLED DUE TO HIGH ALTITUDE WINDS. My sister started to cry. The clups of snow that fell from the machines didn't make anything better. I liked the Christmas song though. (If anyone knows the artist or song title, please reply.) People around us also began to curse and shout because the $56 ticket covers the price of the fireworks. I'm not exactly sure how valid that is, but whatever. The point was our luck was just paid with the fireworks being cancelled twice in a row on the days we went. We decided to catch the last showing of Fantasmic! to at least see SOME fireworks. ALthough the show was great, nothing really beats the Remember... Dreams Come True show.

The Disneyland Resort could probably BUY Anaheim, that way THEY make the rules.

Fireworks are far too dangerous to shoot off in high winds. Regardless of regulations and such, it is ultimately dependant on the weather conditions. If it's too windy, it becomes a threat to not only buildings but guests.

True, winds cause a big impact on the movement of fireworks once they are launched. Just think.. would u have rather of had the fireworks cancelled or be sitting there when pieces of the fireworks themselves begin to fall upon your head. Disney doesn't need more problems in court

Unfortunately it will most likely rain tomorrow. Sorry.

I hate it when people think Disney cancels stuff just "for no reason", or they say "but I can't feel wind!" (well duh, do the fireworks explode directly in the spot where you're standing? no. There's also buildings and trees all over the place which block wind on the ground)... there is *ALWAYS* a big reason if they have to cancel any of their shows. I'm sorry Disneyland can't act as God or mother nature and control the weather/wind, you better complain to City Hall about that.

Actually, don't. The poor folks at City Hall have enough whining to deal with everyday. Anything from closed attractions, to merchendise prices, the list goes on and on.

That's too bad, sorry to hear about your misfortune. In Disney's defense I'll say that I'm sure they lost PLENTY of money by NOT having the show. the entire crew was there, they just didnt get to hit launch button. The only money they saved was on the fireworks themselves. But since they canceled, EVEYBODY was pissed off and were less likely to go into the shops and spend like they would had the fireworks gone off leaving them in a good mood.(which leads to spending, it's a fact). So believe me when I say they can NOT afford to cancel the fireworks show. Those penny pinchers are WELL AWARE of the financial repercussions a cancelation can have. If they could stop the wind......they would but it aint in the budget. hehehehehe
