I am sure that most of us have been to DLR Or WDW enough to have experienced an evac or breakdown.... truely a right of passage for a great Disney Fan!
What is your worst, funniest, or most memorable evac/breakdown story??? Her is mine! We were stuck on POTC for almost 45 min. We had just gotten off the entrance ramp, headed towards the old man sitting in the front of his house. All of a sudden, BOOM! We hit the boat in front of us.... there must have been 8 boats stopped ahead of us! Now... at first, I thought it was normal. You know sometimes there is a delay right before your first drop. Nope... we sat there and waited and waited. Then, the CM gives their speel, "blah blah blah". We sat there... waiting. A CM emerges from the left, all of the boats in frot of us were starting to be evacuated. Becuase they were right there where the scene changes to the brick buildings (you know what I am talking about). Then we all realize that we are one boat legnth from the area it would be safe for us to be evacuated. So.... they evacuated all the boats except for us. So we sat there, watching peope eat at Blue Bayou, the entire queu became empty, and there was nothing for us to do but sit there.... and wait. Finally, they got the ride started again and we went through the ride. When we were exiting the ride, 'suites' were there to give us our fast passes. We later found out that there was a huge power surge and the west side of the park went out! Last edited by Maleficent's Lover; 12-01-2006 at 10:06 AM. |

Wow... Was that day, last August 13th? Lol because I was at Disneyland that day and their was a number of rides breaking down...
Well for me, we went on Indiana Jones Adventure as our first ride of the day, we get on it in like 10 minutes since the park just opened... We get on, everything is fantastic up until we get to the part where your facing te giant boulder. We do the usual backup illusion, then the ride broke down.... Well we only stayed sitting in our jeep their for about 10 or 15 minutes, but it was weird. The lights went pitch black where you couldn't even see your finger up at your eyes (I assume it went dark because they didn't want you to see the boulder in place). No music, all we could hear was machinery... Later we hear the announcer tell us to stay put and minutes later they got back up and running, the ride didn't resume, everything stayed dark, no music, our jeeps just quickly took us back to the loading station. After that, we get in line for Pirates of the Caribbean, luckily we didn't get on, but we got inside the building near the station, then everything went to a hault... The line probably didn't move for 20 minutes. Soon the announcer said the ride is shut down for technical difficulties and we have to get out. Funny thing is, their isn't any exits along the way in the building, so it took everyone forever behind closer to the end to realize people in front were trying to go backwards in line taking everyone forever to get out. It really clogged up NOS, lol. Continueing the day, minor HM difficulties, and also Space Mountain was shut down for quite a while... Weird things that day... |

I've only experienced one ride evacuation, and that was on Indiana Jones Adventure as well.
It was June 26, I believe. I went to Disneyland with a large group of friends from the Nutrition Club at school. Once we got on the ride, everything was going fine until we reached the bridge scene. Normally there's a quick pause before going across the bridge, but the pause lasted a tad too long. After about a minute, I realized, "Hey, it doesn't take this long to get across the bridge." Surely enough, the CM spiel came around. We were evacuated after what seemed like a while through the scenes we had passed already, and boy did it take long corralling all of the other cars. I did take the oppurtunity to *cough*take a flash picture of the bridge*cough* while still in the vehicle. We did get "fast-passes" to come back on the ride, but boy did my friends complain about not getting front of the line passes. |

Anyway, when I went in May of 2005, we had to be evacuated because the trains had stopped. I took about 5 min. When I went last August 11-14, we were in line twice for the Indy and it broke down. The first time was by the wiggling pole where the CMs said, "yada yada yada operational difficulties yada yada yada." The second time was when we were on the stairs decesding to the loading platform and the ride broke down. Were got re-admission passes for both rides. Also, POTC kept breaking down when I wanted to ride it. I waited in line for 45 min! That's the longest I have ever had to wait for POTC.

I've been evaced on Indiana Jones. I was THIS CLOSE to getting on (I was halfway down the stairs to the loading platform, too!), and suddenly, the lights came ON and everything was all bright, they started spieling, and then they evacuated the whole ride, including the queue. We had to get out through a jeep in the loading area, and it was funny because when we did, there was a jeep full of people just barely making the corner (by the AA of Indy at the end of the ride), and I waved to them, and they were all OMG, *WAVES BACK*, like I was a long lost relative or something. That was funny.
That's actually my only evac story. I haven't had any other rides break down badly enough to where I needed to be evacuated.

My evac Story hmmmmm...this was in Sept....I was in DCA I was just out of the Hyperion theater from the second showing of Aladdin...I decided to go on Monsters Inc. Sounds innocent enough. I get on the ride and everything starts normal and everything we did the ride about half way we had just left HarryHausens and there I was with a family behind me...we stopped right in front of the open doors to the CDA and a bending up and down MIke Wazowski...little did I know we broke down...but it was kinda weird just sitting there and then all the sudden all the lights came on and the effects were actually quite surprising...a projected Helicopter propellor air nozles, everything...and then a Cast Member got us and walked us out of the car and made us wait beside Mike Wazowski, Boo, and Sully it was quite an experience but I wanted to see how the spilled Sake worked but we passed by it very fast so I didn't actualy get to see that much. But after we go back to the main entrance to the ride we only waited 10 minutes and the ride started up...apparently it was a routine slow motion and there were soo many cars on the track that the system just stopped but it was the most interesting experience I had and it was totally random thakn you for reading my story.

I've been evacuated on plenty of rides. But the one that stands out in my mind was being evacuated on the PM.
I was riding with my grandma and grandpa that time. My mom, dad, and brother were in the another train. It stopped for some unknown reason, and of course when you're only 10, it doesn't really matter as long as you get to stay in the park. Well a CM comes to open our doors so we can walk along the pathway. The problem is, my grandma is TERRIFIED of heights. She was in tears the whole way until she couldn't see people below us anymore. Didn't make for a very fun evac experience. |

Hahaha I was thre Aug 13, too....SM was, um, weird. The "power generators" weren't flashing, the rotating lift hill was pitch black, and the music ended LONG before the ride ended...that was a strange day.

I have only had to be evac'ed from one DLR ride. It was California Screamin'. I was in the front row and my mom was on the "dock" watching me. We waited at least 5 minutes on the LIM Launch straight-a-way and finally the spiel come on saying "Launch In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" and we launch. The train launches normally and all of the sudden, we stop. The coaster train had only moved 2 or 3 feet. So, 3 minutes later, two CM's come to our train and pulld up the pull up side railing. We finally get out of the train and have to walk back to the station and out the station exit. After I exited, I got a front of the line pass. I decided to use it for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Play It! and ended up getting in the Ring of Fire. The cool thing was, well, I got into the hot seat! There was this one guy in the audience that started booing me and yelling out loud "This is fixed!". I just ignored him. The really wierd thing about the CS breakdown was I told my mom before I got in line, I told her "Watch mom, when I am on Screamin', it is going to break down." My mom said that it was not going to happen. Look who came out right on that one? The reason I predicted that CS was going to break down when I was on it was because my last 2 DLR visits, I ran into bad luck. The first, I, well, I cant remember but the second trip, I was going through the turnstyle of Innoventions and the turnstyle snaped back into my thigh. It hurt so bad, the First Aid people had to be called to attend to me. So, ya, theres my drawn out and detailed evac story.

The only time I got evacuation was on two rides. One was Alice in wonderland and Mr.Toad's wild ride. And when I was POTC the ride broke twice(Diffrent days this happen) one broke by the swamp area.Apparntly the reson it broke was the drop area made one of the boats stop and got stuck on something and couldn't move.So while we were waiting I saw a CM in the background and was running. When I saw him go back the boats started to move again. So it borke for like 15 mins or so.
And the other time when me and my mom got on it broke again! And this time we were in there for an 1hour!!!! The area we were in that broke was by the auction scene. To this day I know the whole quote of that scene.Anyway while we were waiting my mom decided to talk to this two guys who were seating right in front of us and we found out that they were...bf/bf to presay. We felt ok about them being gay because we don't mind it at all.And they were cool to talk to them. After my mom talk to them for a half 1hour the boats began to move again.Later by the dog holding key/prisonors scene this guy told us "Sorry that the ride stop for awhile but we had the prisoners loose and they were trying to escape. But we recaputerd them and put them back in there cell and told the dog to keep an I out on them." and I was laughing at him because I know what really happend but I really didn't care but just to get out of the ride and go get something eat because I was hunger.
