Not much... Its already almost perfect! =D
Only "almost perfect", hun. The ride is now 5 minutes shorter, so they need to slow down the Doom Buggies. I know that there are long lines for it at times, but it doesn't mean that the ride experience should be cut short. I think it's sad that some of Ghost Host's lines are gone. I know who Madame Leota is and people could recognize her from the movie, but it wouldn't hurt to mention peoples' names, since Ghost Host has the role of the master of Gracey Manor.

The first time I went on The Haunted Mansion, since the 50th Anniversary make-over, I was disappointed on the fact that the new attic isn't, in my opinion, creepy and mysterious anymore. I mean, I know the mansion has a crazy psychopath in the attic, but it's not satisfying enough for the attraction. I also didn't like how I didn't hear the heartbeat and no pop-up ghosts disappeared. I'm glad, however, that the heartbeat is back the last time I was there. The only thing I like about Constance is that an axe shows up in her hands out of nowhere. I also like the new addition of a piano playing "Here Comes the Bride", only to see that you don't see anyone playing the piano, but its shadow.

With the technology today, the Hatbox Ghost could become a passing possibility. What I mean is that when Hatbox Ghost first appeared in the ride, it didn't work out so well, so it was removed. However, it could probably be a possibility now.

The Haunted Mansion Holiday is just amazing. I only wish I was there when it first opened in 2001. What I thought was pretty cool is that the gingerbread houses that was made for the dining table in the ballroom are made from real gingerbread. Corey Burton did a good job trying to sound like Paul Frees, the original Ghost Host. Also, I do not know why, but seeing Jack Skellington, Zero, and Oogie Boogie so close makes me smile.

The movie could've been better. However, I wish the original screenplay of The Haunted Mansion could have been filmed. The two women who wrote the script met with Marc Davis and another The Haunted Mansion Imagineer and talked about what the ride was going to be about and such. With that information, they wrote the script and presented it to Walt Disney Pictures, and they loved the idea. However, it wasn't made because of the popularity of Hocus Pocus had when it came out. Later, it was decided to be released as a television movie, like Tower of Terror. However, that movie didn't get enough ratings, so The Haunted Mansion movie was, again, turned down and never to be made.

Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon,
Sesshomaru-sama

I was at HMH in 2001 and so much was different! Different soundtrack for one, the whole ride was scarier, and it was the greatest thing we had all seen in a long time.

I am sooo happy that every HM fan is posting regularly!!! Okay, if you could pick the brain of any Disney Imagineer who worked on the Haunted Mansion, who would it be? I would personally talk to either Walt Disney or Thurl Ravenscrof to see how they came up w/ the concept (Walt) and the music (Thurl).

Keep on keepin' on folks!!!!

I would take either Thurl Ravenscroft, Marc Davis, or "X" Atencio.

The ride moves so much faster now; I can't stand it! There's almost no narration in the hallway scene. The puns are my favorite part of the ride. Can't they slow the ride down during non-busy times of the day?

Walt didn't come up with the concept, apart from wanting a haunted house or house of spooks. Marc Davis and Yale Gracey developed the attraction from its various beginnings.

Thurl sang in the attraction, but didn't develop the music. X Atencio wrote the lyrics and Buddy Baker wrote the melody.

I don't like that it's a bit faster now. I like to take the time and view every little detail. I hate when it goes a bit fast in the seance room because I love to listen to Madam Leota's entire encantation. I hate when it goes fast in the attic and the graveyard because those are my two other favorite places. All in all, I wish it would be slower again.

I highly agree. Some narrations have been cut because of the speed. I'm not sure, but I think it's gone a bit jerky now.

Narrations were not cut for speed but because they were not intended to be there.
"All our ghosts have been dying to meet you! This one can hardly contain himself!

Unfortunately, they all seem to have trouble getting through. Perhaps Madame Leota can establish contact. She has a remarkable head for materializing the disembodied."
These lines were not installed in the attraction originally but were put in sometime later. We all got quite used to them, until recently when Imagineers removed them, restoring the soundtrack to its original intent. The Imagineers are reportedly adamant that these lines do not "accidentally" make their way back into the attraction.

So what you're really lamenting is an unofficial change to the original attraction, not sanctioned by Disney.

Really? Those weren't supposed to be there? But all the puns in the first part of the queue/ride are my favorite part. They're kinda corny jokes that make the place seem both creepy and funny

I didn't know that. This wasn't mentioned, or at least I didn't read it, in Doombuggies.com.

I like the new HMH gingerbread house, it is a coffin that opens and closes to show a giant gingerbread man that raises and looks at us as we pass.
