Default Haunted Mansion Holiday without Haunted Mansion (regular version)

I like to ask a question regarding the Haunted Mansion. Do you think that if it hadn't been for the regular version of the Haunted Mansion, would there have been a Haunted Mansion Holiday? I would say no.

Of course not. There wouldn't be any reason or desire to if HM wasn't there.

^^exactly...no other ride could really handle a Nightmare Before Christmas holiday layover. the only reason why HM can is because it fights perfectly in with the theme of Halloween (beign haunted and all), which is where NBC tackes place (well Halloween Town)

And also, we must thank The Country Bears. you know why? ok i will tell you . when the Country Bears were not doing so well because it was out of the way, they decided to have a whole new show for the Christmas season, so once X-mas was over they needed the people coming back. so they put in Country Bears Vacation Hoedown. i will stop talking now....i really dont want to get into poo..

What would happen if Disney decided to keep the Holiday version running all year round and retire the regular version? That was my biggest fear since they introduced the holiday version back in 2001.

why? it's a holiday layover and nothing more. Christmas is not a year round holiday so why would they ever do that? na, there's no reason to even think like that at all.

I wish they could have used some of Paul Frees' recordings in the holiday soundtrack as a homage to the original. That's what I missed the most on my last trip.

none of his dialogue would work. besides, homages exist to honor past rides, as in rides that no longer exist. you seem to think that Hm is dead or something, and it's not. for like 4 month out of the year, HM is HMH...the ghosts allow Jack to come down every Halloween and transform their mansion for the holidays. Trust me, the ghosts like it a lot. I talked to some...

Haunted Mansion is not dead. Next November the 2nd will be the 20th anniversary of Paul Free's death. It would be nice to add a sound byte of his into the soundtrack. Maybe add a character that says "Welcome foolish mortals..." in Paul's voice.

ya it would be cool, but it probably won't happen at all. in HMH they aren't trying to scare you and show you ghosts (hence Paul calling you a "Foolish Mortal"). they are trying to give you a twisted Christmas/Halloween party. so his dialogue just wouldn't fit at all.

Now that you brought that up: that's one reason I wish they had built Disneyland Europe in London rather than Paris: It's an English speaking country so they could copy the ride soundtracks. Thus, they'd be original.

They could also put A Thurl Ravenscroft line such as "Grim Grinning Ghosts Come Out to Socialize" as well to pay tribute to Thurl, whom we lost last year.

When I used to use AOL there was a sound library and you could upload sounds, and there was a category for replacement sounds. I saw a replacement for the WELCOME.WAV when you log on and sure enough it was Paul Frees saying "welcome" and it must have been taken from the Haunted Mansion ride

I have the 30th anniversary CD of the regular Haunted Mansion. One of the tracks has Paul Frees doing impressions of Count Dracula and Peter Lorre. Boy did Paul have a great voice. With the holiday version, you miss Paul's voice as well as Thurl Ravenscroft.

they do have the line "Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize". Thurl doesn't say it, but it is in the graveyard Christmas song.
