Default Has a ride ever broken down while you were on it?

Exactly as the title says. Here, tell about your expiriences with broken down rides, at either park (DL or DCA).

The only ride that's ever broken down while I was on it was the DL Railroad. We boarded at Mainstreet, planning to take a trip to tomorrowland. So, everything was normal, we went past New Orleans Square and passed through splash mountain and everything, then the train stopped. We actually got to ride the train backward to the New Orleans Square station, and eventually foward again. They never told us what the problem was, but they did tell us it was the only time they ever had to put the train in reverse. Everyone looked so puzzled as they watched the train going backwards over critter country.

When I was about 9 years old I was on Snow White and the ride just completely shut down. A cast member came through and lead us away. At the time it was soooo cool because I got to walk through the ride. At 9 years old that's pretty cool! :) It's actually one of my best memories becasue I stopped for what felt like an hour looking at the crystals in the mine. That was cool! Loved it!

Hugs and peaches,

Maya :)

i remember once when i was 7 i was riding space mountain right at the big turn before the pic is taken and the car stops moving, after two minutes of watching the beautiful scenery all the lights were turned on and we could see everything it was so cool!!! then we slid real slow down the rest of the track and the cm at the end said since it broke down we could go thru again so all was well that time and as we were coming in we just slowed down and didnt come to a complete stop and he said i dunno wats wrong but your going again, your car won't stop. it was so cool

You're lucky! I wish I could see all of space mountain. The track and all. AND I wish I could ride it 3 times in a row without waiting in line, even if it kept breaking down. That would be so cool.

Maya, I had the same experience in Snow White! We stopped almost at the end when you make a right turn and the fireplace is on your right hand side. The car stopped and we all got out. I touched all the decorations on the mantle!!! Now, everytime we go passed that part, I say "I got to touch all that!" Its a great memory.

I've seen Space Mountain break down three times. Both before I've gotten on. Like RIGHT before and one as when I got stuck inside. It was amazing! The first time it broke down, they went through everything and restarted the ride. They then let us go on and they broke down again :/ But I saw the skeleton! It was awesome!!

Oh... one time, I didn't have audio. It was quiet and I heard sounds that I haven't heard before. Like some stuff in the swirly tunnel.

I got stuck in Indiana Jones. It was fun since it's my favorite ride. Sadly, I was close to the end, but it was still really cool.

I was on Splash Mountain with a friend in 1998 when it broke down while we were halfway up the lift to the big drop at the end. We stayed there for a few minutes, and then a CM came with a group of other riders and helped us out of the log. We walked down the steps along the side until we came to a door. We went through the door, down a flight of stairs, and back behind the ride building. We waited there for about 10 minutes while some more CMs came with no-lines passes for all of us. We then exited via the door in the back corner of Critter Country (opposite where the Pooh ride is).

It was the end of the day, and my friend and I had done everything we had wanted to do, so we took the no-lines pass to Peter Pan, the only ride we hadn't done yet. The CM in charge let us keep the pass, which they weren't supposed to do. So, after going on Peter Pan, we took the pass over to Matterhorn, where it was taken from us as we were getting on our sled.

BUT, the cool thing was, as we got to the end of the ride, the entire section of track that our sled was on slid sideways out of the way, allowing alternate track to slide in place. Were we ever surprised! It happened very smoothly and quickly, and we were out of the lineup before we realized what had happened.

We were told they had to remove our sled from the lineup because there were too many sleds on the track and they didn't have time for us to exit the sled without getting an unsafe backup.

Anyway, we waited there for a few minutes until they could clear the backup, and then we got to ride it again. So, we got 3 rides out of a no-lines pass off the Splash breakdown. We were pretty excited.

About Space Mountain and the Dark Rides: In either 1995 or 1996 (can't remember which one) at the annual AP party, they let us walk through the dark rides, except Peter Pan, and they also were running Space Mountain with regular bright lights on instead of the effects.

I have to say that riding Space Mountain with lights on was incredible. You don't really appreciate how high up you are at the beginning when it runs regularly. I'm a little afraid of heights, and it spooked me a bit. There was also a chair and a desk at the bottom. And I was fascinated to see the black skeleton of the rails. Very cool.

I want to walk through the HM with lights on. It would totally ruin the illusion, but I really want to see what makes it tick.

I have been on Indiana Jones 2 different times it brokedown. The first one came when my friend and I finished the ride at the loading station. The other one was when it starts to go dark after the lava area. It was fun to walk around the rest of the ride. What I like to call the behind the scenes of the ride.

I'm pretty sure they meant that the skeleton (supports,rails,track,ect..), was actually black. I'm not sure. Can you confirm, TuesdayBear?

We broke down on Roger Rabbit once and had to be escorted out. My friend got a great picture of me at the end of the ride with Roger Rabbit and his streeeeeched out arm. I pretended like I was helping him push!
