I am guessing you will get your own ticket with your name on it just like a block out ticket has. And depending on how nice the people are taking the tickets you may or may not have to show ID to get in.

I heard about this campaign at work the other day and frankly, I thought the person who told this to me was lying. Then I went on the Disneyland website and saw it's true!

From a guests' point of view, this is a really great campaign! However, from a Cast Members' point of view, I'm not so sure this is such a good idea. But we'll just have to see how this pans out in 2009!

Why would this not be a good idea on a Cast Members' point of view, RankoAnime?

Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon,

I assume Cast Members are exempt from this... and possibly their families too

There are eligibility requirements for any kind of prize/award. I think Ranko's hinting at how this is going to make CM's lives a little more complex now that there will be birthday guests and all sorts of bashes and shindigs that will require various levels of CM attention.

Tickets are supposed to be non-transferable anyway, but that doesn't stop anyone from selling/re-selling them on Ebay or elsewhere.

I understand that Disney may not want tickets floating around, but maybe it would be a better idea if the person could designate a person to receive the ticket instead of themselves.
They're going to have to do something because people will choose this option for whatever reason they want to. Everyone's AP will expire between this birthday and the next, so having a free one-day pass would make sense for someone who may not renew right on before the expiration date. That's just one example, but, if someone gets one of these passes, sells them on Ebay, and gets away with it, then we'll fall down a slippery slope pretty quick.

Having a name on ticket only works if verification of the name is done at the entry gate. If it's not enforced, then people will find ways around it. They're going to have to do something they've yet to do or there will be shenanigans with these free passes going on.

For all we know they could just give you a card to redeem it at the ticket booth for the one day ticket (which makes the most sense)

And currently they already check ID for certain kinds of tickets. This is one of the main reasons the new ticket terminals were put in. Now when a AP is scanned it shows all info about us on the terminal with a very large color photo. And for certain passes (press, MMD, special event) it shows info about what needs to be done for these people. Double checking who they are and why they are there. I don't see why they wouldn't use this system and if they do use it then it will make it extremely hard for people to use their ebay-bought tickets.

Arrow What Will You Celebrate?

Tom Morrow (with some help from Evoulie and I) just posted some major linkage in the News Center, including press release, press conference video, and a link directly to the free Birthday registration. Check it out!

I am very dissapointed they will be keeping the generic Disney Parks Brand name, the generic Castle in clouds logo and Where Dreams Come True slogan. I guess they eon't have to replace the intro to Reflection's of Earth anytime soon.

I like that song that plays in the commercial and everything, and I like how you can get into the park for free on your birthday.. What will you celebrate?

Matt has hit the nail right on the head! But like I said, we'll just have to wait and see what happens...

I see. Well, if I ever get the chance to go to Disneyland on my birthday, I hope I won't complicate things for you, RankoAnime. ^_^

I just had a thought, think about how this would work out for a family that, by coincidence, all have the same birthday.

Me and my little cousin share the same birthday :]

I think this promotion would be better if it let the birthday person and one guest in a Disney theme park for free :]

I'm visiting the park June 15 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the subs, Monorail and Matterhorn. Does that warrant a special celebration?

PS -- Anyone know the stops of the "what will you celebrate" tour that kicks off next week?
