Keep your Disney Magic glasses on and have a great time. I was there Tuesday of this week and, while it was crowded, it was manageable. Still, it's a good idea to get to DL when it opens if you can, get your fastpass - free with your admission ticket and available at the ride - for one "don't wanna miss it" ride, then go ride another (don't wanna miss this) ride early in the morning. Don't miss the Dole Whip (pineapple ice cream yummmmm...) at the Tiki Room (the line is shorter while you wait for the show - thanks VF for turning me onto those; my dad LOVED it). Sometime during the day (not first thing, the line will be too long) go to ToonTown and Mickey's House for your picture with Mickey Mouse. Have one taken in front of the Castle, too. When you pick up the castle one, have them put Tinkerbelle on someone's shoulder. After you've ridden your "don't miss" rides, do your souvenier shopping. Don't wait until the end of the day to pick up your pictures - you'll wait as long in that line as you did for rides at the end of the day. If you buy too much stuff (who, me?), there's a package check service at the stand near the entrance (maybe Star Trader, too). Everyone has their "favorite" spot to watch the parade and/or fireworks. Mine is the balcony area of the train station. Finally, don't frustrate yourself trying to do everything in one day. Prioritize and be ready to go with the flow. And again, have a GREAT time!

Thats awesome that you're going for the first time. Congrats!!! You will LOVE it if you go there with the intent to get out of the real world and into a world of adventure. You can do anything you want there......go to the jungle, explore an ancient temple with Indiana Jones, get spooked (and laugh) in a Haunted Mansion, fall 5 stories on a log into a brier patch, wisk through the wilderness on a runaway mine train, fly through space, bobsled through Matterhorn Mt., and the list goes on and on. Definately get a hopper pass so that you can experience California Adventure at least once. You need to go on Soarin' Over California and the Tower of Terror! Theres a lot of other good rides there, too besides just those 2. Use Fastpass whenever you can and you will save a lot of time and get to experience a lot more. And finally take lots of pictures!! Bring a videocamera if you have one so that you can go back and experience your magical trip again if you want to. Also, be sure to watch Fantasmic!!! Have fun!

If you don't want to wait in long lines, BE AT THE FRONT GATES AT LEAST45 MINUTES BEFORE THE PARK OPENS!!! Then you can ride all the must-see rides in the morning before it gets crowded. And one thing you should keep in mind is that the Matterhorn can get some very long lines in the afternoon and there is no fastpass for it. Ride it in the morning while everyone else in the park is going for Space Mountain or Indiana Jones. I hope you have fun on your first trip!

In the middle of the day, when its really crowded, I like to take the train around the park - I start at the Main Street Station, and go all the way around the park and get off back at Main St. It's a nice restful trip, and it gives me an idea of what parts of the park are busiest and least busy.

Go on all the rides that don't have a fastpass in the morning (it's less crowded) and save your fastpass rides for night.
